What the cap should look like
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Kap, Marner and Nylander all under paid. All the rumors are saying Nylander will get $6.9M. Marner will get around $8M. Matthews will get $11.5M or $12M. Kap is on track for 30 goals, sorry but that's a $3.5M contract minimum. Marleau is not going back to the Sharks, they don't have the cap space plus he's on a NMC...if TOR is making a run at the cup, he's not going to agree to get traded.
Bottom line, you undervalued all the big contracts to fit into the cap space; reality is, TOR is going to have cap problems next year provided Nylander, Matthews, Marner and Kap all are back and signed. Horton can be burried on LITR, but you have to keep a large percentage of that cap space available until after the season starts.</div></div>
well the idea is if Nylander signs for 6.9 he gets more of a cp hit this year bc the deal will be signed late and then the average cap for his deal will be around 6.6 for the remaining years of his deal.

I guess? I’d do it but tbh it’s your loss.</div></div>
Why is Ruuta not good? From everything I have seen from him he is the exact d man toronto needs Big, Dman, right handed, could possibly play 1st pairing with Rielly if needed. From every hawks game I have watched he has looked great.
Also Murphy has played 0 games this year and im not sure why. Injured or healthy scratch?

Schmaltz for Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>He had the stat lines to prove it.
Let me copy and paste his reasons for you!
Schmaltz and Murphy, a solid 2nd line D guy who can play 1st line minutes, is a heck of a deal for Toronto. Blackhawks need a dynamic winger player and need to move Murphy unfortunately with the young D guys (Mitchell and Boqvist) both likely coming up next year on the right.
There, in case you missed it.
IMO tor should throw a third back.</div></div>
Ok I see it, but i'm not a big fan of Murphy at all. Would Rutta be able to be subbed in instead??

if Schmaltz is so good why would you wanna trade him and throw in murphy for a more expensive player... I just don't see the logic from chicagos side if schmatlz is really as good as you say

I was in an argument with a guy that matthews is gonna ask for 15 mil and the leafs will have to lose him, and i said that even at 15 mil leafs can afford him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gagne12</b></div><div>I'd take Vasilevskiy(3.5 million cap hit) and Gibson(2.3 million cap hit this year) over Raanta and chad johnson. Otherwise, you did a pretty good job.</div></div>

16 Million Dollar Man
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TiBo23</b></div><div>Arizona will move to Houston in the 5 yrs. Matthews and his agent wouldn't sign that deal to begin with. Matthews could be the Vince Carter of Toronto. Vince Carter could have had Toronto in his hand. Greedy players! More money in TO and in the international markets with TO. Matthews would be a fool to sign anywhere other then NYR. They suck! They are not giving four first's in an offer sheet.</div></div>
If Matthews wants 16 mil he could probably get it.

Leafs Next year Doomsday Scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>And how exactly do you figure that Marner is going to get near 10, that Nylander gets 8, that Kappy will get that much for that little term, that Leivo will get nearly double his worth on a multi year deal, that Johnsson goes for anything near that considering his play, and that Borgman gets two years? Be very specific. All comparables put them much lower.
For OP, comparable players put the most likely contracts at:
Matthews: 8@11.
Marner: 7@7.5 (8@8 is also acceptable).
Nylander: 6@6.5 (3@4.75 is a likely bridge).
Kapanen: 3@3
I can live with that Sparks contract, but I do think it will be closer to 800k.
T.Moore will just take his QA.
Leivo, if re-signed will take his QA.
Johnsson: 2@1.5
Borgman will take his QA.
Lindholm: ~2@1.5
Guys who you seem to think drop dead:
Ozhiganov: ~2@1.5
Goat: signed @ 0.675
Engvall: QA
Rosen: QA
Marincin: 1@0.925
Sandin will not be on this team next year. After Schenn, we don't rush D prospects.
Hyman(2.25)-Tavares(11)-Marner(7.5)
Marleau(6.25)-Matthews(11)-Kapanen(3)
Nylander(4.75)-Kadri(4.5)-Brown(2.1)
Johnsson(1.5)-Lindholm(1.5)Grundstrom(.925)
Leivo(0.971,250)-Goat(.675)
Rielly(5)-Dermott(.863,333)
Ozhiganov(1.5)-Zaitzev(4.5)
Borg/Rosen/Marincin (.925) - Liljegren(.863,333)
Borg/Rosen/Marincin (.925)
Andersen(5)
Sparks(.800)
Total cap hit: 78,297,160
Total cap space (cap at 82.5): 4,202,084
If you look closely, you will see that they can pay Gardiner his full value over a longer term and still fit him in. He will get up to 36 mil in UFA, give him 8@4.5(36) to stay.
On the cap, BoG and NHLPA say 82.5 is minimum cap.</div></div>
if nylander is at '6.5 x6" why hasnt he signed tha then, its obvious Nylander is signing at 8 mil or not at all

Proving the leafs are Fcked Cap wise 12
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Well, yes, teams generally get into cap trouble when you overpay the **** out of your players.
Leafs are not paying Mac that much, actually we probs wont even keep him.
Borg will likely be in Sweden at this point, and he wont make over a million if he is not, as he wont be on the team this year (or in any meaningful way anyway).
Oz I can see going that high
Kappy will not make that much, take off 500k at least.
If Lindholm wants that much, he may have to go. I hope he works out that well though.
Matthews hard cap is he Tavares deal. He will get 8@11, there is no question (as the Tavares cap is also his floor).
Nylander is not worth anything over Pasta with the cap increase. I have been arguing this all day, and will post a tl;dr on it in next post.
Marner is also not worth 9.5, I will include this in the Nylander tl;dr.
Zaitzev will rebound. Not saying the contract is great, but it is not an anchor. He has looked fine so far this year, was hurt last year.</div></div>
I don't follow the leafs enough to know the exact dollar amount but from what ive seen most people are saying matthews could get 12 and marner could get 10.

Seems like Matthews would have to be MVP winner or finalist to get even be considered to get that money, Why does Nylander get so much, all comparables have him at 6.5m tops, and then an unknown is Marner. Is he going to be untitled to be a paid a top three RWer coming off his ELC?
Plus there is full cap relief Horton next year. So really how realistic are your figures.</div></div>
I accounted for Horton by putting him on the IR
