Can't we all get all this urban legend, that a so called stud dman is the panacea for the Leafs. Look at many of the so called big name dmen and how little success their teams have had lately.

You mean like EK or Klingberg, perhaps Subban? Yeah I really feel bad for the Sharks, Stars and Preds don’t you?

I don't remember an NHL player who fetched that much in a trade in recent memory.

The Leafs are at risk of becoming too much of a top-heavy team. Adding another 11M player would probably seal their fate.

As a fan of both teams, I couldn't stand this trade, for either one. If Nylander were signed, there's a possibility of him for Martinez and Kempe, but that's about all I could stomach. But since he's not, we really don't know what the market is for him.

Sharks...despite their high priced talent, and with Burns 6 playoffs rounds win in his 7 years. Klingberg 1 playoff round win in four years. Yep Subban has had the most success with his 6 playoff wins in his 4 years...but is he even the best Pred Dman? Hedman and Karlsson or even Doughty lately haven't had great success leading their teams into the playoffs and playoff wins. Yea, I think it's kinda of CapFriendly legend, not based on fact that this so called stud Dman is the panacea for the Leafs or really any team for guaranteed success. But trading dmen to the Leafs especially RHD is the biggest volume of trades on this site, so the legend grows.
