Possible deadline deals
I could see the Leafs having interest in Brassard, but they'd want Braun with the retention instead of Yandle if they are making this deal.
I could see EDM being the spot for Marty Jones, with a larger return than what you're getting from COL here, especially is PHI is to retain and/or take back the Koskinen contract for the rest of this year.
Giroux trade probably nets you a 1st if you're retiaining that much salary.
Speaking of retention, a team can only retain on 2 contracts max, so you'd need to probably go with taking back Koskinen to maxmize returns on these 3 deals.

Leafs aren't parting with Robertson or Liljgren for that package.
They hang up the phone immediately if you even hint towards Amirov or Knies in that deal.

Keeping Up With the Coredashians - TDL Edition
I don't think the Ducks are getting a 1st for Josh Manson.
From what's been thrown around lately but some of the NHL insiders on Twitter, Manson's asking price is lower than other rental D like Klingberg and Chariot (who isn't worth a 1st IMO)
Plus with that injury he just sustained, his health status being questionable should have a negative impact on his trade value.

Leafs maybe consder Niemela if they have a window before the trade to negotiate an extension with Manson on an AAV that doesn't further hinder this team in the offseason.
If they Leafs can extend Manson, they might consider the counter offer, but even then it seems unlikely that deal gets made.

Mayfield
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>He literally took Matt Martin off the leafs hands for nothing right after he left.</div></div>
I think there's a little more that that than the way you phrased it.
Martin was being phased out of the lineup by Babcock, and was a player that Lou coveted for his big body and leadership, considering Lou gave him that 4yr $2.5M deal he signed to come to Toronto in the first place. Lamorello take advantage of a Dubas being forced to move a contract that Babcock refused to keep around and brought him back to Long Island with him, where Martin is not only familar with the team, but is still very much apart of that 4th line with Clutterbuck and Cizikas.
That trade saved Leafs some cap, yes, but the players involved made the Islander's better. Moving Mayfield who will be highly coveted would improved the Leafs D, not the Islanders.

I think a lot of people forget that Muzzin has quite a bit of experience playing the right side from his time in LA, the original thought when he was aquired was he'd playing with Rielly, except Babcock has Mo play the right side instead when he had them paired up.
If you swapped Muzzin and Chychrun, it could work as long as Muzzin is able to still handle the assignment. With his troubles this season, I'm not sure that would be in his best interest either.

I think that's a pretty fair offer, but like you said.... It would be very surprising to see Lou do anything to help the Leafs as long as this current regime is around.

Phillys Deadline
I don't even know who Semyon Kizimov is, and I thought I knew all the Leafs prospects pretty well.
Either way, Leafs take this deal happily as Braun ticks off the boxes that this team needs for a playoff run this year, and his numbers consdering how bad the team has been lately speeks very highly of his defensive abilities. I think Philadelphia could get more for him at the TDL though, especially if they plan to retain 50% of his salary.
Honestly, I'm surprised his name isn't coming up more often in rumour mills.

Giroux next season
Leafs will trade Mrazek at some point before the start of next season in order to free the capspace for a Campbell extension (which you're pretty spot on at $5.5M based on what I've read as well, though I believe the term is going to be 5-6yrs instead of 4.) That said, there is no way you move him to a team for a 1st and a 3rd, even if that team was desperate. I've always been a fan of his even before he came to Toronto, but this years numbers aside, he doesn't fetch that return even if this was 2 years ago based on his Carolina numbers. Goalies that aren't top tier don't fetch high returns in this current market anymore.
Although I agree with what's been previously stated about Kerfoot in this thread, he's not getting a 1st round pick. If the Leafs trade him, and I believe they will, he's going to be part of a deal where he is not only a big part of the return, but a necessary asset for money matching purposes if the team tries to go for a more impact name at the deadline.
Pretty close to the number's I've heard predicted for Sandin and Liljegren on bridge deals, but Kase at $2M for 6 years made me laugh. I think the money value would be there, though I think he may push for $2.5 - $3M annual, he's not signing a 6yr deal at that price point anywhere.
I think you get more for Holl than you do for Dermott.
Maybe slightly controversial opion here, but considering a 37 year old Patrick Marleau was able to get two offers over $5M AAV when he hit the market 5 years ago, Giroux who is younger and putting up better numbers is going to sign for more term and a higher AAV than 2yrs @ $4M per.

Reetool part 1 2022 trade deadline
Leafs pass.
At that price point with the current team's needs, we'd rather take the deal for Brenden Dillon who was a trade target of our back when San Jose traded him to Washington in 2019.
We'll still ask you to retain salary though.

Next Season
Leafs pass.
Leafs would love to move on from Ritchie's contract, but I don't think they need to attached a 2nd and 3rd round pick to do so.
There are teams like Arizona and possibly Buffalo that may take him as part of a larger trade or a cap dump for a mid round pick plus a B level prospect.
Also once this season is over, I could see some teams that want a tougher bottom 6 have actual interest in him as a reclamation project in his final year of the deal.

I agree.
I don't hate it at all, but with $2.3M salary on a strapped team like Toronto where every dollar counts, I don't think we justify bringing him in to play on the 3rd/4th line, especially when the team needs to free up salary to extend Jack Campbell.

Apparently Vancouver wants to move him prior to that so they don't have to pay the bonus. Which I think makes him the wrong choice for TO</div></div>
In this scenario, he's the 3rd string option, much like Rittich was last year.
He maybe plays 1 or 2 games down the stretch to stay warm, but unless Campbell or Mrazek go down to an injury, he's not going to meet the games played bonus

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Apart from the Klingberg trade and the Seattle trade, the leafs downgrade.b</div></div>
I appreciate the feedback, but I have to disagree.
- I think Rakell is a better Top 6 option than Kerfoot, though it does open up another whole to fill come Free Agency.
- Vancouver deal is about playoff depth. Schenn most likely doesn't play unless or injury or a rookie Liljegren underpeformes in the playoffs, to which he brings a Stanley Cup winning experience to the team. neither him nor Dermott play major minutes down the stretch for the Leafs and based on the current depth chart, his days in the lineup may soon be numbered anyways. Halak brings necessary depth in case of an injury to Mrazek (likely) or Campbell, so I think this trade would actually make the team better for this season.

I really like Kerfoot, but I also agree that I'd take Rakell over Kerfoot if given the option.
Reason I had him included was at the time, before I'd made some other deals, I needed some salary matching as this Arm Chair GM mode doesn't take in to account the player prorated salaries come deadline time, or allow you to make 3 team trades to retain extra money like the Leafs did with Foligno last year

Definitely Engvall if the price was right, though I think Leafs management has changed their stance on him being simply cap dump based on his play on both the 3rd and 4th lines this season, where he's seemed to have found his identity.
Other than that, Leafs could potentially part with Mrazek in this scenario if they believe Halak is steady enough incase of an injurt down the stretch, but I think they'd then need to find another NHL caliber 3rd goalie for insurance purposes much like I tried to do here with Halak and I don't believe (when healthy) NJD really wants Mrazek aside helping their current goaltending situation this season.

Fantasy World Where McDavid is Getting Traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>If he demands a trade, and gives 3 teams that are contenders in his age group, who would that be. TO certainly is a top 5 team in his age range. Colorado would be as well and then I'd say the Rangers are as well.
The Rangers could offer a decent package but the cap would be difficult for them to manage without gutting their team. Colorado could offer up Rantanen and some futures sure but would they want to part with enough to make it worthwhile? In any event you would have a limited number of teams involved which would lower the return in a big way. It's not like he's going to demand a trade and then say Buffalo is where he wants to go.</div></div>
I think McDavid doesn't go anywhere if the offers don't start with Matthews or MacKinnon realistically.
Also, unless he refuses to play out his contract until he's traded (ala Ben Simmons), the return package would still be astronomical for him from whichever teams he's willing to go to.
That said it's not ++++ with the player mentioned above, but it is a massive haul if it does indeed happen

I think you can definitely get Bellemare on this team for much less than that and if acquired he should be playing anywhere above the 4th line, otherwise I think thats a pretty solid group of guys.
