Was more of the opinion that we don't want a complete head case to go into that locker room. Guy completely loose his composure over the smallest things.

I was going to come back in because I noticed LaCombe was sent down but Bean was brought in. I don't think we need any more puck movers, especially after claiming Lassi. I also think claiming Lasso was purely to put pressure on Drysdale and we waive him after Drysdale signs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>In the offensive zone I absolutely agree with that take. In the defensive zone Zellweger isn't any where close to NHL ready. The kid needs a year in the AHL to learn how to defend against men that are much bigger and stronger than he is.
The Gulls defense needs Helleson. If we're talking about what is better for the greater good of the organization then that's having Drew play the entire year in San Diego.</div></div>
If you want to keep Helleson in the AHL to help get playoff expirience and play meaningful pro hockey on top pairing then sure, even Zellweger I think could gain a lot from that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>I expect him to sign in Anaheim. The system is designed to give an RFA like Zegras who hasn't obtained arbitration yet very little leverage. Man, we just disagree on the value of the players you traded for zegras. I think it's a pile of garbage

And we wouldn't accept an offer for anything less than what you'd consider a "lateral move"
We need star talent, we've got more than enough middle 6 players to fill out a roster, which is all you are offering in this proposal.

Nikishin is 23 and Zellweger and Mintyukov come in at 59 and 61. The trade is dumb on the whole but that's not because Nikishin isn't worth trading for.</div></div>
Nikishin looks like a great prospect but he’s also 2 years older than both Zellweger and Mintyukov. Let’s see how the ANA duo look this year vs men.

Some change of scenery trades that I would be interested in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>I don't see why a 2nd round pick should be the difference between moving Mathieu Joseph and moving Brock McGinn.
When the Penguins moved McGinn, they even got Kulikov.
I'm sorry, but try being a little more fair.</div></div>
I didn’t like the Kulikov trade in the first place, Joseph has 3 full seasons left on his deal, and ANA now has yet another 2.5-3M depth piece in McGinn making Joseph even more unnecessary.
The Ducks don’t have to be “fair”. They have no cap pressure, and can make moves based on what is best for their team. Adding a $3M depth player is not it. If they’re adding him, it’s not because they’re targeting him. It’d be because OTT is enticing them with something they actually want (futures/prospects).
I said his value is probably a high 3rd ANA’s way, but I really don’t want his contract, so I’d personally want to see ANA hold out for a 2 or just not. I fully stand by that. If the ducks added him and got a 3, I’d think ‘meh’. If they got him with a two I’d be happy. You asked my opinion as a Ducks fan. That’s it.

Quick but aggressive retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>Don’t overrate drysdale lol.
He’s very talented offensively but he is horrible and I mean horrible defensively.
Anaheim takes this for sure Hedman is great mentor for guys like zellweger/ mintyukov/ hinds/ luneau etc all those high potential young guys, also he takes a huge load off Fowlers back.
Stamkos another guy who can help develop all their young upcoming centers.
Those 2 immediately turn Anaheim into a threat</div></div>
Advanced stats disagree with you, he's not bad defensively, not great either at the moment, but you seem to be discounting the fact that he made the team at 18, and doesn't even have 1.5 season of playing time under his belt. You act like he's an over the hill prospect, what you see is what you get, but the kid is barely 21 years old and still developing.
Then you turn around and massively overvalue one season of stamkos and two seasons of Hedman. Yes, both once great players but both are in major decline. Hedmans stats across the board crashed this season. Stamkos wasn't far behind.
So no, Anaheim doesn't touch this trade. Stamkos and Hedman don't turn us into a threat, you're just mortgaging the future to help season ticket sales with this trade. I wouldn't make the trade even if Drysdale was dropped, it makes zero sense from the Ducks end.

Mantha for Vatrano
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aebexz</b></div><div>3.65 by 2 is worse than 5.7 by 1. Both are terrible but Mantha has upside and is a bigger guy. Pat Verbeek likes bigger guys and Mantha still got upside to have a rebound season and fetch them a decent return</div></div>
Mantha may have upside but Vatrano is coming off his best season, setting personal highs in assists and points and coming close to his personal best in goals. We'll keep the less expensive guy who's on a demonstrable upswing over the guy who "has upside" and MAY "have a rebound season."
P.S. Note that the respective cap hits are a red herring, because the cap is of no concern to Anaheim. The REAL figures are $7.3 million versus $6.5 million, which makes Mantha a LOT less attractive.
P.P.S. All of the foregoing was in relation to Mantha-for-Vatrano one-for-one; like <a href="/users/jded" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@jded</a>, I would accept the offer if Iorio were included.

Krug is the exact opposite of what we are looking for, we have enough PP QBs in Fowler, Drysdale, and LaCombe, we need a defensive LHD that can play 2nd pair with Drysdale with 2 or less years remaining on their deal.
And we're not "tossing in" the guy who won Defensive Dman of the year in the Q.

Moving forward
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CHAR</b></div><div>Joseph would have a lot more PK appeal for the Ducks if he took face offs. That's definitely an area of concern. But he's a winger so that's not helping to make him attractive to the Ducks unfortunately.
Patience vs fill holes? Well, I certainly hope it's a bit of both. Take patience with the forward group since it's a little more advanced in the rebuild. Also the fact the holes are at the top of the line up and acquiring legit top-6 forwards is an expensive and risky proposition (ie DeBrincat).
But fill holes on defense with short term options to bridge things to the prospects just out of the CHL. They really need another guy on both the right side and the left side to make me happy and these guys don't have to be world beaters. They just need to be serviceable NHL level players. Ceci, Forbort, etc. Lots of similar names get thrown around on this site all the time.</div></div>
IIRC he was a center in the Q. He took FO in the NHL but poor results so yeah, can't really plan to have him in this role.
Ducks are doing the right thing, they probably still have an internal budget so like the Sens of the past, have to build through the draft and they accumulated some pretty good young players already. Gotta give them time though. Tank another year and go from there
