No, Barron's a non starter
We took less then was on the table specifically to get "a player who is young but just looking to enter the NHL " as per Hughes post Lehkonen trade.
Said he coulda got more in terms of picks but thought this was the deal that addressed his needs

Makes no sense at all given the Production Dvorak put up under MSL
Makes more sense to wait until next summer after his Trade Value's grown
Otherwise we're just giving him away when he finally found a coach who plays him right

It's like trying to stop a sinking ship by making holes
The idea of getting Dubois this year just makes no sense
Especially with the top Centers in this years draft in Bedard and Fantilli(my fav)


End of the day Were not in a position to take him this year
Its actually better for us after Caufields signed given we'll have to over pay Dubois undervingly (done less then Suzuki in twice as long)

AZ is more then willing to take a cap dump
But they want paid for it
I think they've taken 2-3 cap dumps already and they'd still end up with extra 1m cap

Byron , Ylonen or Primeau , 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick

They can still use Byron for year then trade him at next years TDL for a profit
Retain salary and move byron to a contender 1.7m cap they're will be a lot of interest for a speedy winger/pk leader

MTL gets someone who can handle the faceoff load Danault did and wont bit%% about playing a middle 6 role.(on our team 2nd/3rd play 1 shift difference under Ducharme)
Dvorak unlike Danault is good for 15+ goals a year and is more capable offensively in that regard. His defensive game is ok but not on Danaults level though
MTL gives up a lot but helps build a contender again this year for Price with the long shot outside chance maybe Weber joins us in the playoffs if only for one game&amp; one shift so he can get a ring

With Dvorak we'd have the Center Depth we need for all our Goal scoring wingers of which there's multiple former 20 goal scorers
Well they're now going to have the puck more often spending less time on the back check thanks to a Dvorak
All we really need is a big physical veteran D like Gudbranson for playoff depth as a kulak isnt built for the grind

reason as been outside rink life dilemma. As per now the guy is still top6 quality role that you put way down the list ... this is laughable at best. You guys doing value AGM are scrapping the meaning of hockey role...

Crouse is on better range than Lehky, but lehky is in prime time and a pk beast. You also get two real offseason in Lehky and KK where are the other ah yeah not enough game (9) vs (29-33) !

the game is there. Do we give guys who put you in playoff and keep going .... YES and this is gold to step a higher pace.

Put Drouin over Romanov and you can see where the deal is value wise cuse the 1st is yeah a gamble but and higher chance to get a quality player. Ari don't have cap problem but next summer they need to bid to pass to another level, and even with ufa leaving they will need another gap to give youngsters a real team around them. Their windows are 4 yrs away just after Dvorak next contract and by then even with the cap they won't be close enough. So they need filling players and pick. Habs are in a win now mode!

You don't even have who the first could be, nor qualify Drouin role ... So you only value card ... All you thought are on I do think drouin ... Where do you fit him, what kind of play ... You say dvorak play a better role, but is Lehky a better pker ? Is Romanov capable of greater, and what about Kk ... I'm sorry but habs deliver a quality offer too, yeah its somehow in mtl favor but is it THAT much ... I don't think so.

Those kind of logic in a trade do not entice the role in a team. Kk is rfa, Romanov on elc, the first is in a deep draft pool and even Drouin at 5,5 with the news about the cap situation is now under manageable term.

I know that Chyc Crouse and Dvo are quality players, but we do give something good.

Lehky helps pk, KK give them a center that can fullfil the role in playoff and romanov is still in learning process, adding the passman Drouin having his confidence back and you can have Drouin - Kk to play with any other yotes right wing to form a trio.

So no, I do think that Ari would check to add 2 more piece even after giving the best players.
