2023 Offseason
That is a brutal trade for the Rangers with the Sharks. If the Rangers were willing to move those two for nothing they would have both been moved already (especially Kravstov).

Two Moves To Keep Minnesota Under The Cap
The Rangers traded a very comparable winger in Buchnevich (who signed for 5.8 per) for a 2nd rounder because they couldn't afford his cap hit going further. So they aren't going to turn and trade for a likely more expensive player while giving a bundle of good assets to do it.

2023 Offseason
Regardless of your thoughts on Chytil it doesn't make any sense for the Rangers to trade their only young center worth a damn for a position they already have a stockpile in with D.

a rebuttal to an earlier post
I think the Zucc trade is fair value but I don't see how the Rangers can fit the cap hit unless they can bribe Arizona or someone to do a 3-way deal and eat some of his contract.

Jets Scheif rumors
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jets12Kozy</b></div><div>Jack Eichel makes 10 million AAV and was injured along with other apparent issues, to think Laf or Schneider arent worth a Eichel or Scheifele is just laughable.</div></div>
Lol for starters the Rangers began trying to trade for Eichel before last season (before he was injured) and wouldn't trade Laf then for him. Also I didn't speak a word on if I thought the trade was actually worth it. I simply stated the fact they very publicly refused to trade either of the two for a younger and clearly superior player so there's no reason to think they would get traded for Scheifele.

Canucks offseason
If the Rangers were willing to give up that much for Miller he would have been in NY by the deadline. Rangers beat also maintained all season that NYR were never too interested in re-acquiring JTM, so its not likely that suddenly changes in the offseason.

Jets Scheif rumors
The Rangers wouldn't include either of Lafreniere or Schneider for Eichel, so they definitely aren't giving one up for Schieffle, let alone both of them.

Interesting
For starters the Rangers literally do not have the cap space to accommodate Kane next year (even at 50% retained) without being forced to cap dump in other areas. That would create a huge hole at 2C since they don't have one under contract. Then there's the fact that Kane barely moves the needle for the Rangers. A lot of his positive impact comes from the power play at this stage of his career and the Rangers quite literally do not need help in that department. Then there's the price you set which frankly the Rangers would laugh at. Rangers refused to trade Lafreniere in any package for Eichel, so why would they trade him for Kane? Othmann should be considered off limits too unless its in a package for a young cost controlled C, his potential to provide cheap scoring for 3 years of an ELC makes his value too great (and needed) for the Rangers. I doubt they would trade either of those two straight up for Kane, let alone together with even more assets.

trading Chytil for just a 2nd would be hellaciously bad. Copp has also already rejected a 5 year/ 4 mil per year contract from Winnipeg so it's not likely he takes an even lesser deal. Also no reason to re-sign McKegg at all (or Rooney at that contract as well)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheMooterus</b></div><div>Nowhere did I mention a 1-for-1 deal. I’m well aware the Stars would need to add to the deal. The whole purpose of this was to see what Rangers fans would want Dallas to add in order for Lundkvist to be on the table, given that 1) They have been linked to Radulov, and 2) Lundkvist isn’t a top-3 RD on the Rangers roster for the foreseeable future (Fox, Trouba, Schneider)</div></div>
I didn't say you thought they'd do it 1-1, I'm just saying the value is so far off that there is no reason try and form a framework with it. The reports from NYR's beat is that Lundkvist is only going to be moved for a forward (preferably center) that has term and is cheap enough they can fit under the cap next year. Based on that the only players who fit that bill on the Stars are Robertson (lol) and Hintz (also probably not happening).

Rangers pass as this trade doesn't make sense for them. Not giving up their best prospect and a pick for an unestablished player who the Rangers were reportedly uninterested in during his draft season.

Rangers aren't trading their top prospect for a declining rental. Doubt they'd trade more than a mid round pick for Radulov.

Rangers definitely decline. That's too much for Boeser but even if it wasn't the Rangers aren't able to absorb his QO for next year, he'd basically be a pure rental for them.

Rangers absolutely decline. That package is just too large (also I doubt the Rangers trade Berard in general). There's framework for Kravtsov + pick for Lehkonen but doubt the Rangers give up multiple prospects.

Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigShoots</b></div><div>2023 first is much more valuable. Getting a first in what is shaping to be one of best drafts in recent memory would be huge. Bolduc is a recent 1st. So you are getting two 1st, 2 2nds and Bellows. You actually believe Miller will return more than that? I mean the trade might be to a different team for different assets but in terms of value this proposals is on the high side of what I think is possible. Even this I don't expect anyone to offer this much.
100% they're not getting Dobson.</div></div>
Bolduc was a late 2nd rounder that was taken 3 drafts ago who hasn't cracked the bigs yet, he may be an NHLer some day but he definitely is not the equivalent to a first. Also I don't think Bellows has much trade value in general at this point so that's basically a throw in. and in terms of the first rounders, 2022 is a really good draft class too. If the Islanders added Miller they could make the playoffs again in 2023, so a guaranteed top 12 pick in 20222 is definitely more valuable than a 2023 first. I just see this package as the Islanders giving the Canucks a bunch of stuff but nothing really of significant value.

Questions for NYR fans
I think the biggest thing so far for them has been lack of usage and opportunity for sure. For example the Rangers PP1 is Panarin, Strome, Zibanejad, Kreider, Fox and plays the first 1:30 of every PP since the middle 2019. So the two of Kakko and Laf get basically no PP time and when they do its basically just retrieving a cleared puck and getting one rush up ice before the PP expires. So IMO that has been the biggest factor in their lack of stat production.
In terms of coaching trust, they never had it while Quinn was the coach of the Rangers. He rolled them out there almost exclusively on the 3rd and 4th lines. Gallant immediately gave Kakko a top 6 spot and Laf was 3LW but that was only because he was behind Panarin and Kreider, but Gallant recently tried him at RW before the All star break and he's been buzzing with Zib and Kreider since.
Eye test wise, Kakko has developed well so far IMO. His rookie year he was awful at even strength and got hemmed in his own zone very often. His second year the offense still wasn't there consistently but his 200 foot game was much and was awesome. This year he started slow but played well as a top 6 RW until his injury. He generates offense (although still doesn't have the point totals we'd hope for) and plays good defense.
Laf flashed at points his rookie season/ early this year but had no consistency and looked just meh at times. But it seems that was largely due to confidence and line mates because like I mentioned earlier he has looked like the player he was billed as coming out of the draft since being placed on the top line.
Ultimately though I think the PP is the biggest reason for their lack of points. If you put either of them in Strome's spot on the PP they'd have much more respectable point totals but alas they generate their offense entirely at even strength.

Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigShoots</b></div><div>The value seems pretty accurate. Whats wrong with it?</div></div>
Bellows is almost 24 and hasn't shown a ton at the pro level (partially due to opportunity but still) so his trade value is probably low , and Bolduc is decent but not a high end prospect. On top of that the Canucks don't even get a first this year? You would have to at least start by swapping Bellows with Wahlstrom and making the first a top 3 protected first this year. Then maybe Wahlstrom, Bolduc, 2022 first could be framework. (which still feels really light) so IMO if they aren't gonna get Dobson (they prob wouldn't) they're better off sending him somewhere else for a better package.

Good NYR Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>I wouldn't expect you to one for one but something like Lehkonen + 2nd for Lundkvist has been discussed and Rangers fans seem split on that idea.</div></div>
I don't think they'd trade Lundkvist for Lehkonen period. He is easily their biggest and most valuable trade chip should the Rangers chose to move him so they aren't trading him for a rental, even with a pick thrown in. A RHD with PP abilities and 3 years on his contract has massive trade value. Kravtsov is a good prospect and would be a good return for the Habs.

Deadline
Rangers aren't trading Othmann for anything short of a youngish center signed long term, the scoring upside he could provide on an ELC while NY is cap crunched multiplies his value to them infinitely. I won't say the Miller trade is an overpay but for that reason the Rangers definitely wouldn't do it. The other trades are massive overpays for the Rangers and don't even make sense for them. Just keep Georgiev as the backup and play Jones/Nemeth as 6 and 7D instead of moving all of those assets to not improve at all.

The Rangers may move Lundkvist but it would be for immediate NHL talent, not a minor leaguer who *may* have NHL upside. They especially wouldn't be trying to move him in the division without a large return.

not a comment on the value itself, but there is less than 0% chance the Rangers trade Lafrenière. Also NYR apparently won’t include either of Lundkvist or Schneider in a deal for Eichel, let alone both of them.

that's likely the case yes, but in this scenario the Rangers wouldn't have a true top line but instead 3 great lines that are interchangeable at even strength with a grinding 4th line.

It makes the cap work for Vegas, who has an expendable winger after trading for Dadanov and has had interest in Strome. Also given Smith and Gallant's history together it makes sense. It also gives the Rangers a stop-gap top 6 RW if either Kakko or Kravstov aren't ready yet. (I would have preferred Buch on a 1-year deal for that role but at this point that is neither here nor there)</div></div>
