Totally agree Blackhawks need to set the Price high and donlt settle for less then what they expect. But that might be a little much. I thibk that bot Jones and Othman plus the 3 pick added to Lafreniere is maybe a bit too much ambitious.

I am a Lafreniere fan but he is not really the player he was drafted to be. He has a cardio issue and has trouble keeping pace with his peers. Look at the price of guys like Chiarot and Giroux, Kane is worth twice that and has double the term.

Othmann and Zac Jones are both much better prospect then Smilanic and even if Lafreniere have some issues he is still only 20 and have a tremendous potential. Even with only one of Othmann or Jones the Blackhawks would already have surpassed by a miles what the Panther gave up for Chiarot.

For starters the Rangers literally do not have the cap space to accommodate Kane next year (even at 50% retained) without being forced to cap dump in other areas. That would create a huge hole at 2C since they don't have one under contract. Then there's the fact that Kane barely moves the needle for the Rangers. A lot of his positive impact comes from the power play at this stage of his career and the Rangers quite literally do not need help in that department. Then there's the price you set which frankly the Rangers would laugh at. Rangers refused to trade Lafreniere in any package for Eichel, so why would they trade him for Kane? Othmann should be considered off limits too unless its in a package for a young cost controlled C, his potential to provide cheap scoring for 3 years of an ELC makes his value too great (and needed) for the Rangers. I doubt they would trade either of those two straight up for Kane, let alone together with even more assets.

I understand that it’s a substantial offer but I’m not sure I see the potential from Lafreniere anymore. Part of being elite as a hockey player is to have the physical tools and situational understanding, which he has. But the other part is being able to keep up physically, which means having the endurance to make plays at high speeds consistently in large minutes. I’m not seeing it from him cuz his mouth his hanging open from fatigue every shift and he’s very selective in when to use his speed and aggression. There’s a reason why he’s only seeing 14 minutes a night, even as a top liner.

This issues is fixable, he probably need to change is offseason routine and get a new training programme. He is 20 years old. Most players take big stride later in their career.

I think the Hawks would have to look at this seriously, I also don't think the NYR should do this. Its a massive haul and one deserved by Kane but it seems a lot. I think Kane stays and re-signs with the Hawks
