Respectfully, that Miller trade HAS to be satire, right?

The value seems pretty accurate. Whats wrong with it?

I think it's pretty safe to say, should Miller be traded the best piece coming back will not be anywhere near what Dobson is worth. It'll a combination of picks, prospects and young players. This offer isn't bad.

Im a Canucks fan and Miller isn't worth Dobson straight up.

Maybe not Dobson, but I think this offer is easily beat. Bellows and Bolduc aren't top prospects nor do they fill position of needs. A 2023 1st, not even their 2022 1st which is probably in the lottery, and 2 2nds isn't enough for Miller

Bellows is almost 24 and hasn't shown a ton at the pro level (partially due to opportunity but still) so his trade value is probably low , and Bolduc is decent but not a high end prospect. On top of that the Canucks don't even get a first this year? You would have to at least start by swapping Bellows with Wahlstrom and making the first a top 3 protected first this year. Then maybe Wahlstrom, Bolduc, 2022 first could be framework. (which still feels really light) so IMO if they aren't gonna get Dobson (they prob wouldn't) they're better off sending him somewhere else for a better package.

2023 first is much more valuable. Getting a first in what is shaping to be one of best drafts in recent memory would be huge. Bolduc is a recent 1st. So you are getting two 1st, 2 2nds and Bellows. You actually believe Miller will return more than that? I mean the trade might be to a different team for different assets but in terms of value this proposals is on the high side of what I think is possible. Even this I don't expect anyone to offer this much.

    100% they're not getting Dobson.

the 23' draft is much stronger. We would prefer a pick in that draft. Bolduc is a 1st from last yr. Thats 2 1sts, 2 2nds and Bellows. If the Canucks do trade Miller they won't get this much. Just look at comparable trades that have been made. I agree that positional needs aren't met but the value of the offer is very strong. And the positional needs can be addressed with 3 extra picks.

Bolduc was a late 2nd rounder that was taken 3 drafts ago who hasn't cracked the bigs yet, he may be an NHLer some day but he definitely is not the equivalent to a first. Also I don't think Bellows has much trade value in general at this point so that's basically a throw in. and in terms of the first rounders, 2022 is a really good draft class too. If the Islanders added Miller they could make the playoffs again in 2023, so a guaranteed top 12 pick in 20222 is definitely more valuable than a 2023 first. I just see this package as the Islanders giving the Canucks a bunch of stuff but nothing really of significant value.

My bad I was looking at Zachary Bolduc. I've been hearing this draft isn't the strongest. Next yr is very very strong. I guess its more like a 1st, 2 2nds, and 2 fairly long shot projects.

The sad part is Miller is basically the engine of the Canucks but when you look at comparable players the returns they got are not great. Im thinking Toffoli, Reinhart, Buchnevich. Now Miller is better than all those guys but they're not far behind and they all basically brought the equivilent of a 1st and 2nd/3rd. Getting a 1st, former 1st and roster player is probably what the Canucks should hope for. Maybe there is a better comparable for Miller but I can't think of it.
