Interesting idea but I think at least the Leafs would prefer Brodie (I wonder if he has MTL on his NT list) just off the fact that his deal is expiring.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>Ouch , Dumba is making 2.5m ?
What did he do ? Pull a Galchenyuk ?
How's he only getting 2.5m and Brodie got 5m from TML?
More to the point Brodie isnt your problem
Playing him on RD is TML major mistake.
Since 1995 TML has REFUSED to Sign a Right Handed Defensman.
Never mind the fact that the RHD they let walk went to DET to win Multiple Cups as theirs.
Its been the same stupid **** for 30 year from that entire organization cause their owners dont know hockey they see TML a Brand they can market for profit , thats it.
Its sad cause their fans deserve better then this
But not having a RHD on top pair playing 22-25 minutes you're giving up coverage on half the shooting lanes available trying to keep an active stick on your backhand.
In terms of Odds its like 3/1 odds normally of breaking up the play on your natural side vs 10/1 odds on your back hand.
No matter how good he is on his backhand it pales in comparison to someone playing their natural side.
IF TML could get Erik Karlsson beside Reilly its IMO a sure thing as far as breaking the NHL longest reigning Cup drought</div></div>
How would adding a true top pairing RHD make Toronto's big four learn how to play playoff hockey?

Its like if your team traded for another Center , i'd be confused.
Jordan Spence fits our needs and he's someone you can build on.
He already started learning French when he was in Moncton playing for the Wildcats
Not that i care but it would probably motivate a lot of our fans who didnt know that.
Granted he's not billingual, he understands some but not enough to reply perfectly back in French, more a Frenglish mix</div></div>
I don't think the Kings can afford to dump another RHD. They already got rid of Walker, Grans, and Durzi this summer. RHD went from their single strongest position of depth to one of the weakest. If they trade Spence, they're committing to Clarke in the NHL this season, which he may or may not be ready for, and if any of their RHD go down with an injury, then they'll have to play a left-handed guy on his silly side. After what they went through with Durzi last season, I think they learned their lesson.

We'll exchange one defenseman named Jordan for another, but we're not trading Kaliyev for Harris.

Options and No More Tanking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jbc149</b></div><div>Your planned usage of Granlund proves he's not a cap dump, so Pittsburgh wouldn't pay that much to get rid of him.</div></div>
The value of a player varies from team to team. For example, the value of a 6/7 defenseman is far different to a team which has only 4 defenders as opposed to a team that has 8 of them on the roster. The fact that a bad team like Montreal may use a player in a higher capacity than Pittsburgh establishes only his value to Montreal; Granlund is of little use to Pittsburgh and whatever worth that use is to the Penguins is far outweighed by Pittsburgh's need to get rid of his cap hit. To put it another way, to Pittsburgh Granlund's chief significance is that his departure is worth more than his presence; to Montreal, they'd rather have Granlund than a rookie. It's the Penguins that by far have the greatest motivation to consummate this transfer, and thus would be the team more likely to overpay.

But you could buy him out for only 33k this year, saving you 5,667 millions…

yes speak loudly but your knowledge is small shouting it doesnt make you right.... Goaltending is average and the defenseis really coming along....with dach now on the top line it will be solid and the depth is good .. and our bottom sixth with guys like gallagher and dvorak and evans is better than average..... only injuries have pulled us into the bottom five.

All good. People can have an opinion or even troll. But when I dont get judging and hating on ACGMs when you dont participate in ACGMs. There is a cowardice about it that irks me.

Why not get like the only dude to hand him a Loss in a fight in Vincent Desharnais.
I usually get him for a 3rd and a older prospect who's not part of MTL's plans but still 24 or under.
(i usually do 3rd round pick and Mysak as we got no place for him longterm with Dach and Newhook being acquired)</div></div>
The kid is a stud. Enjoy him and I’ll enjoy him on your team as a leaf fan. Montreal needs a few more years in the rebuild but they are looking pretty good.

Montreal takes the cap space and runs bro. That would be a great ROI.

No, you're right, I checked the article which was the source of my impression and it was dated July 5, 2022, not July 22, 2022 as I originally thought. I must have gotten "22" on the brain, as it was the jersey number of my favorite NY Islander.

Dont shoot me
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>"Almost 3m" clarified in the start of the comment
Im not writing almost 3m every times
Those like yourself will understand it 9/10
Grier hired July 5th 2022, Burns traded July 13th 2022
Tell me , does the 5th come before or after the 13th, i forget lol
Im just kidding around im sure you just read it quickly and inversed the numbers.
For a minute i was like "fu** , he's right." then i remember going "what a moron" when i heard about the Burns trade(i still stand by that Grier's a bad GM)
Value as a player 100% from a business POV he's got a NMC he hasnt waived but asked to be traded.
I mean that's the bigger issue even more so then his Cap hit and how much they have to RS on just to get value out of him
He signed a bad contract, it happens to many people . If Josh Anderson was making 2.75m instead of 5.5m we'd have a line up of teams paying for him
But at 5.5m without RS we cant get enough value to justify moving him
IF Karlsson is to get the Value you're insisting on it'll only come in the final 1-2 years of his term once Grier has been fired and replaced with a competent GM</div></div>
I'm pretty sure that Grier was officially named the San Jose GM on July 22, but I'm in agreement with the rest of your points not only in this comment but your earlier ones on this topic.
