<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gpmack95</b></div><div>you’re right. pittsburgh shoukd trade their next 10 1st round picks for Karlsson.</div></div>
I didn't say that. I said that this is a pie-in-the-sky offer unlikely to interest (let alone convince) a team that is under no pressure to move their biggest trade chip (unlike St. Louis or Vancouver earlier this year) without getting useful value back. You know better than to suggest that a 2026 second-round draft pick has any near-term impact, or that Ty Smith would ever be considered a major element in an Erik Karlsson trade, or that Mikael Granlund constitutes a significant potential benefit to San Jose.

Seriously?
A second-round pick in 2026 that won't turn into an NHL player until the 2028-2029 season is going to make Mike Grier's fingers twitch? The yet-to-impress Ty Smith is on Mike Grier's blackboard of Ten Targets We Should Trade For?
I have some news for you: Joel Blomqvist is not a better goalie prospect than Magnus Chroma, and if Mikael Granlund can so easily be flipped for picks, you guys would have seen the last of him by now.
The bottom line is that this offer doesn't come close to getting Erik Karlsson without $18 million in retention, which issue I note you failed to address.
This ACGM isn't up to your usual standards.

Imagine for a moment that you're Mike Grier. You get a telephone call from the Pittsburgh front office alerting you to the imminent issue of what they consider is an attractive offer for Erk Karlsson. You sit down at your computer and read the incoming e-mail transmitting the offer shown here.
Tell me which element of that offer makes you say, "Wow!"
Then tell me what element of that offer you think would compensate San Jose, a small-market team, for retaining $18 million.

With his injury history, Robertson doesn't have that much value. Certainly not enough to cover dumping Murray. If all it took to dump Murray was Robertson, Murray wouldn't still be a Leaf.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>Neither was Dach until he got here.
Held down top RW until injuries then 2nd C after Monahan went down.
With the proper support on Wings he can do it.
Without that support though i agree its unwise to put him top 6 C.
Coach Nicholas our Skills Coach has improved our development yield big time.
Hutson gives him a lot of credit for his Virtual Coaching helping him work out his Entry's and Positional Play.(Hutson interview from after his NCAA season he said that)
Most of our Youth this year thanks Coach Nicholas and no others from MTL's development organization which tells me its founded given the result many of them got overachieving .
We didnt give up 31st and 37th cause we had no faith
Same as we didnt give up 13th OA for Dach cause of no faith
We paid high prices cause we've seen the impact our new Development staff has had on our young players
We think that trends likely to continue.
Besides Newhooks about where Suzuki was after year 2 in the NHL faceoff wise
Offensively they're about 10 pt average apart but Faceoff wise he's as likely to grow here under Coach Nicholas as Suzuki was</div></div>
I REALLY hope it does work with Newhook. Not trying to call him terrible, just saying what didn't work here in CO. The Center position was VERY overwhelming for him and he had his best moments playing on the wing. Faceoffs aren't his problem, he actually does those pretty well. Its positioning and defensive responsibilities. Granted, we are in our cup window and don't have the patience needed for a guy like him, but he did not look nearly as good as Chicago Dach last year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>No we dont
The amount we'll get back isnt that much more
The cap we have we can take on another Monahan and get more
I mean i'd love to figure out a way to get Mcbain in the deal but i know thats just greed
This isnt too far off what we'd get with RS and is less then we'll get trying to turn lets say flip a lets say Taresenko looking for big minutes and a 5-8m hit x 1 year to be traded at the TDL to a contender.
With Drvorak out pipe dreams like that likely with lesser players like Joonas Donskoi or Max Comtois on a 4-5m deal x 1 year to rebound their value and be able to choose a contender that fits later on when things are much clearer in terms of the standings.
Point is Dvorak gone for that means options and space to make more moves</div></div>
I am a big fan of Dvorak. He is a perfect third center. I would expect to get more from him than what we got for Eddy. And he is the same player that got a first + second. He only got older

Im convinced if he just sat out and rehabbed properly he'd heal but he never seems to do that.

Its basically two 2nds (Dach #62 in 2021) and a 3rd for someone they dont need. They can give their own prospects some nhl experience.
Keep Dach and the picks, one of them might turn into Dvorak on an ELC right when this team is starting to compete for a playoff spot.

Not *really*, but with Necas, Jarvis, Teravainen, Svechnikov, Bunting, the wings are loaded. Anderson is just a bad contract and Armia half retained is fine, but not worth anything the Canes are giving up. A 3C would be the one position the Canes look for. The blueline will have 6 top 4 D men momentarily, the wings are loaded, goaltending trio is excellent, just that center spot isn't exactly where you'd want it to be

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>this is how losing teams keep being built in MTL
Matheson without Savard produces nothing as can be cross checked below by clicking on his name and see who his partners were each night.
What you're suggesting is Chemistry shouldnt matter, Coaching doesnt exist and life is an EA game before they started factoring Chemistry into the game 5 years ago
Thats what people ignore is both Matheson and Guhle sucked when stuck together up until Guhle to hurt .
Outside Savard only Kovacevic helped Anchor Matheson enough to be an effective producer
Investing in him over a Harris or a Xhekaj again is why we dont win Cups
We build regular season rosters not playoff rosters
We get softer while giving our Sergachev's up for soft players like Drouin's
cs.unb.ca/~mwf/habs/</div></div>
We just dont see things the same way.. and that is fine.
