hot take here, but I think I would take Ekblad ahead Point and Pastrnak. Nothing against Point or Pastrnak themselves, but I would personally rather have an elite defenseman like Ekblad, as I don't think they are as easy to obtain. Hell I might take him at one knowing that Florida had Barkov and Huberdeau, but that might be a bit of a stretch.

I think elite first line centres like Point are harder to find than elite first pair D. Being a right shot is a nice bonus, and may put him ahead of Pasta (although Rocket threats are almost equally as rare), but I’d rather have a superstar 1C (probably have him 6th or 7th) in the league than a what, top 15 D? Being deep up the middle has been proven to be vital, with Vegas being an easy target to show this (they have two top 10 D in Theodore and Pietrangelo, but they didn’t have a top 20 centre until literally today lol, and haven’t been able to seal the deal despite being stacked everywhere except centre).

I see where your coming from here, I would say that elite 1st line centers are about as hard to find as a elite first pair D. I am of the belief that Ekblad is criminally underrated and deserves to be talked about in a top 7 D range, which is where I got to putting him over Point, and knowing that Florida and Buffalo had an elite 1C's with Barkov and Eichel (though him being gone now throws a wrench in my argument) also helped get me to that conclusion. I can definitely see a case for Point over Ekblad though.
