Who wants to do a discussion like the Klefbom thing with me about why the Islanders will be better than the Flyers in 2017-18?

We would need (4) more judges, as I have nominated myself lol. My guess is that you and RAIF would need to decide on a time

And just to be clear, the debate shouldn't be who had the better argument. The winner should be whose point the judges believe to be true

That allows preconceived bias to have affect. That's not how a debate occurs.

The way I see it, what made the Klefbom debate interesting was the fact that you were arguing a point that was seen as near impossible to convince that it was true. Everybody knew that you would be the better debater between the two. If bias would be there, we'd need a judge that isn't a Flyers fan, so I don't think you should be on the jury

It should be about both ... an example would be, let's say two people are talking about who's better of Crosby or Erik Karlsson ... the one saying Karlsson says "Karlsson has won two norris trophies, he's great defensively, great offensively", and they say all that, and the Crosby one says "Because he's good." The Crosby one shouldn't win just because most would agree that Crosby is better.

Well you can't actually say who's better when they play two different positions. Who's better : The Calculus Major or Women's Architect Major?

I won primary because, and cited in the reasoning, that I was able to contextualize and use evidence, not opinionated facts.

Debate is measured on how well you convince the judge to vote for you. Being a Flyers fan has nothing to do with how I would vote. If RAIF can convince me, or you fail to convince me that the Flyers would be better, than I would vote accordingly

It has to be with argument you agree with more, not who presented the better argument, as long as the judges have an open mind going into it.

Rask #'s over the last 5 years are almost identical to Price's, so how can one be elite but the other is not?

Seasons 2012 to 2017
Price - 2.23 GAA / .925 SV% / 23 SO
Rask - 2.25 GAA / .923 SV% / 27 SO

A 5 year sample size is pretty significant, so why is Price considered the gold standard of NHL goalies and Rask (by some) isn't even in the top 10 or top 15?

Because the difference between replacement of Tuuka Rask to Steve Mason compared to Tukka Rask to Carey Price is closer to Steve Mason.

Carey Price was hurt in 2012. That season should be disqualified. Use the 2011 one instead (.916 and 2.43 compared to .905 and 2.59)

Carey Price carries the team, while Rask can be replaced more easily.

Hypothetically, lets replace Price with Mason and Rask with Mason.

What team would have a higher chance of winning? Boston would. We all saw what happened when Price got hurt. They got Mikhail Sergachev.

See you're look at a single season and not a body of work...even still the 2011 season

Price - .916 and 2.43
Rask - .929 and 2.05

You don't incorporate the defense. Boston had much better defensemen than MTL. You can't just take stats and not contextualize them.

Example : Sean Couturier doesn;t have any more offensive upside since he hasn't gotten 40 points.

Until Feb last season, Boston had 1 win without Rask in net. Over the last 3 years...

With Rask - 102-63-26 / 2.36 GAA / .917 SV% / 15 SO
W/O Rask - 18-15-2 / 3.62 GAA / .902 SV% / 3 SO

Yup, Boston does just fine when Rask doesn't play...guess that's why he's had to play nearly 200 games over the last 3 years

Over the last 3 years here is each teams winning% when Rask or Price don't start

MTL - .415%
BOS - .454%

Over the course of a season the difference is 3 wins. Boston is just as dependent or Rask as MTL is Price.
