Poitras + a 2nd at least. This trade stinks.

If Poitras is involved then Ehlers or Perfetti would have to be involved

Poitras projects to a middle 6 center. He's got a much lower ceiling than Rutger. The other two are ridiculous suggestions don't even try.

Rutger projects as a middle 6 winger. With Poitras performance at the NHL level, I wouldn’t trade him straight up for an entitled player who is trying to force his way out of a good situation because they won’t guarantee him playing time,

Some of these packages for this kid are borderline absurd. Hes good. People seem to be pretending like he’s Gauthier. He’s not. He’s worth a top 15 pick in this draft,

I've mainly been going off Dobber prospect projections. Poitras is a projected 48 point player, Rutger is a projected 80 point guy. I'm giving Poitras more leeway because he was impressive in the NHL last year. If I judged strictly on that, I'd say Poitras and the 1st round pick.

That’s fair. Not sure why Rutger is viewed as an 80 point guy. He’s definitely a worthwhile college player and has very good potential, but I think that is a tad of an overstatement or he would have been selected higher last year

I'm glad he's developed really well. It's annoying as hell that he isn't trying to earn his way onto the Winnipeg Jets but I guess his family planners have concluded he probably doesn't make it this year and he's bailing early.

To be fair it might be the hardest team in the NHL to break into. Extremely deep, noone is expiring and other prospects might beat him out.

With the potential loss of Toffoli and Ehlers as a pending FA, the opportunity is substantial for him.

I do not believe Winnipeg is that differentiated from other contenders. Sounds like he wants to go to a terrible team so he can get more time at the NHL level

Maybe you package him and Ehlers for Necas and a 1st?

I wouldn't. I'd own rent Ehlers, because he is the best player. Trade Rutger for a 2RHD, be it Sam Girard, add more to get Rasmus Andersson or whoever.

If the Jets trade Ehlers they lose their entire playoff 2nd line. Toffoli sucked anyways so he won't be missed. Assuming Ehlers stays, 2nd line locks are him and Perfetti. Rutger would have to battle Lambert and Chibrikov for the last spot, and those 2 players actually went through the Moose, got NHL ready, and are fantastic skaters. Rutgers skating is still a concern.

Also the difference between Winnipeg and other contenders is that other contenders are losing forward free agents. None of the bottom 6 players on the Jets are expiring this offseason. Literally 0.

They probably will have to sell Iafallo. Bowness making me watch 50 games of 1st line/1st PP Iafallo made me wanna scratch my eyes out. He really thought he was better than Ehlers, thank god he retired.

All I’m saying is the opportunity is there for him to take a role if he’s willing to earn it. Winnipeg has a good team, but let’s not pretend that every top 6 liner is a “potential 80 point guy”. I think that projection is a little pie in the sky is, but it is kind of annoying that he’s entitled enough to pull this crap.

Definitely. Chevy needs to take this opportunity to trade for a need, RHD. The Jets have amazing forward prospect depth, so this is a less brutal loss.

Girard is a leftie. Andersson is intriguing. Especially of late. WIth the apparent continuous tear-down the Flames seem to be undergoing, hard not to wonder whom else could be had. Gotta think Conroy would be excited at the idea of adding a touted prospect like McGroarty. (??)

Rutger has yet to play pro hockey whereas Poitras has scored at a 40 point pace and he’s only 19
Skating is also a major concern for Rutger but I think the rest of his game makes up for that
I would say Poitras’ value is a bit higher at the moment
