Using the Markstrom trade as a template:

1st round pick (25th ovr): New Jerseys first rounder (given to Calgary) may be lower (better) than 25th ...I do not anticipate the devils jumping from not making the playoffs this year to a top-5 team next year, as of now (maybe this will change after July 1!)

Pinto>Bahl of course; but Ullmark>Markstrom - also assuming this deal comes with an Ullmark extension. Yes, goalies are historically cheaper on the market, but Ullmark is only 2 years removed from a Vezina trophy winning season; this shouldn't count for nothing!

Ottawa will now have 3 goalies, Boston could use Forsberg at 50% retained for insurance if Bussi is not ready for full time NHL backup. Can also plug him in the minors for cheap if Bussi takes the job.

Lauko is a throw in for some cheap bottom 6 depth. Merkulov may also be offered...depends on Ottawa's current needs.

I do believe Boston has most of the leverage in this trade. I do not think Sweeny has a problem running it back w/ Swayman and Ullmark tandem, for this season or up to the trade deadline. I think the preferred option is a trade, but if the value isn't there, why make an Atlantic division team stronger? Bruin>Sens leverage-wise.



As for other the other moves, a 1/2RW is needed. They could resign Debrusk with similar money to Marchasseault (6-7 mil range). A 4LW is needed (Heinein?). I do not think they bring back Maroon - if so he rotates with Brazeau. 3LD - I do like OEL because if Lohrei isnt ready for top-4 minutes, OEL can be the person to move up the lineup seamlessly. Age is a concern (2-3 year deal max)
