I would anticipate that Boston is putting in their 2026 2nd round pick, but I do believe that is the general structure.

There needs to be some leveling of value. I believe that future second is a nice compromise if they are taking back Forsberg’s terrible one year salary

Forsy had an awful season but for what he could be which is .908sv% backup, his salary is not bad. Plus the contract is 1 year

Convince another team to take him then and im sure they will start talking about a prospect (with the first) or a lower pick (with Chychrun).

I have no qualms about having 2.7M of an expiring contract on the books, but I’d prefer not to light it on fire for nothing and that’s my current view of Forsberg. If another team doesn’t view him that way, feel free to take him out.

My perspective is that if Boston gives back a 2026 second or takes the 39th instead of the 25th pick, this deal as structured seems close.

I’d be willing to trade Ullmark for Chychrun, your 2024 fourth, and a conditional 2025 3rd (upgraded to a second if you make the playoffs) if you want this to be a cleaner deal

Senator fans need to realize that Chychrun has been bleeding value over the last year.

He was an attractive piece because of his low cap hit and offensive play. That cap hit is gone as soon as another team acquires him and extends him with an annual AVV of above 7 million. He's now just a 3-4, left handed, offensive defenseman that has serious defensive warts to his game.

Ottawa can probably get more for Chych at the deadline, but to do so, it'll be a distraction all year. I prefer the team moves on from Chabot due to his injury issues and NTC kicking in now, but I doubt the organization will.

Forsberg was recovering from 2 torn ACL's last year. He should improve this year especially on a team as defensively sound as Boston. He is a cap dump in this situation, so for Boston to take him, Ottawa needs to pay an equivalent to a second round pick.

2. A costly LD (Wotherspoon is fine and much cheaper depth LD’s are abundant)
