Id say your about right, obviously the biggest problem isn't if the talent level is there, it's the health issues both these players have had. Perhaps an additional 2nd could be in play if both play 50 games in '24/25 or something similar.

imo laine is still worth a middle 6/good prospect + first at least. maybe im over shooting him but top 6 guys who score 30-40 goals arent very common and hes been around a point per game player who whole career. ovb his health hurts him a bit but idk if it hits that much.

Assuming there is some retention involved then a good prospect + first is a fair deal

The jackets gm said nobody is touching Elvis at this point. 0% chance even with retention that you get a 2nd. It's more husso for him retained to get him out of your org and off your books

Laine with retention should get a 1st + mid range prospect,or in this case coghlan, who I see being NHL ready and just needs the chance. He was great in the ahl this year and has proven he can play the NHL level before that.
But unfortunately I do see laines health putting a toned down return for his talent level

I could see husso being a 2nd/3rd backup plan trade for the leafs at 2.3M as a backup to Woll

Buying Elvis out might end up being a better payoff for the jackets if this was actually the case

Agree retention should get a good return despite the risk at play for the acquiring team. If I was doing a deal I’d probably put some GP or goal thresholds for conditions on the pick. Could make sense for both sides that way.

Would be on the books longer and not saying it's not. Just saying their own gm said this about the Elvis, he's not gonna get a 2nd

I hear ya, the thing I keep thinking is husso played his best hockey under berube back in St Louis. He may want him as someone he knows can play a certain level (even though he played below that recently as a "starter")

hes a med risk very very high return imo 1st + prospect/middle6 + middle pick with 2-3m ret% should be the price for him. ur giving up good assets but he could easily become a 100+ point player with 40+ goals on a good team with talent around. health is a risk but id imagine him not having to be the only player who can score helps him stay uninjured and even if he only plays 50-60 games a year if hes playing at an elite scoring level for the playoffs that wont matter to anyone

I think he’ll get a decent return but GMs are risk averse and he’s had enough blips that it’ll impact his value. Retention helps a bunch but also depends on the teams looking for him. Banking that those 50 games come with playoff production is still a risk.

Holmberg is ready to be a full time third line centre. Is big and good in the draw. Abruzesse is at best a number 12 forward
