I want neutral fan opinions

I find when the discussion is between 2 fanbases with clear bias no meaningful conversation actually takes place 90% of the time
OTT
I think these are the two main assets Philly is looking at based on all of the rumors we've seen up to this point.

What do neutral fans think the other side of this trade looks like (or would there be even more on the Ottawa side, whether that be additional cap dumps/picks/players)?

I don't understand why PHI would want Chabot even though he'd be a good acquisition for most other teams.

phily has no one worth 7th OA and to drop down to 12th for scraps like laughton (most rumoured to be going to OTT in any phi to OTT trade) would seriously hurt OTT. i hope staios aint dumb enough to trade 7th to phily....

Chabot is a tough one to put a value on. He's a good defenseman but he is always hurt. He has averaged 57 games per season over the last four. Add to that the financial commitment of an 8 million cap hit and it's difficult.

Based on reporting from Yost and coming out of Philly it sounds like the main point of the deal is for Philly to move from 12 to 7 in the draft. COC said a whole lot of stuff, but nothing. He said Philly has been interested in JC, Chabot, and Pinto since the last season. He said Ottawa has been interested in Laughton since last season. He also said he heard the Flyers might take back Joseph as a cap dump to get more value out of a deal.

I'm just speculating but if I had to guess at this point I would say something around Chabot, Joseph, and 7 for something around Farabee, Laughton, and 12. Maybe the Flyers add 31/32. Other smaller pieces could be added to balance things out.

    I. don't see Chabot being that special at 8m. Sens need cap space if anything, and in some ways so the Flyers.
    Chabot for Farabee?
But LHD are fairly easy to come by and Flyers already have Sanheim and Sealer. Just sign a 3m LHD UFA,,,,yeah not as good as Chabot of course but you keep Farabee for example

Calling Laughton "scraps" is laughable. Fans of other teams don't wont to admit it but players like Laughton are highly valued by GM's around the league and several teams have been trying to pry him away from Philly since last summer. This is also a weak draft and Briere said today they have a very clear top 5 in this draft and after that who knows how it could go. This is similar to what has been reported for some time about his draft so the move from 12 to 7 isn't as drastic or valuable as a lot of years. I wouldn't even consider moving Laughton and 12 for 7. I would rather have a late first round pick which the Flyers turned down for Laughton last summer.

Sanheim is much better on the right side. A top four of Chabot and York on the left and Sanheim and Drysdale might be decent. Sealer is much better off on the 3rd pair.

Just to add to your previous comment. Joseph isn't a cap dump. He's 2.975m contract is spot on value.
IMO, the Sens need more NHLers. If they could let's saysFarabee and Laughton for Chabot, and Flyers move to 7th from 12th....maybe there is type of deal there.

Laughton’s lines got caved in defensively and he doesn’t have good analytics . I’m scared the Sens will overpay for him ewww.

Chabot is good as long as the rest of the dcorps can cover in defence and Physicality

rofl laughton is only worth a 2nd at best and is briere turned down a first for laughton he should be fired and the GM that offered should be fired

Hangnail Chabot @ 9.5m Salary is not appealing to any team without cap going back...

Similar players to Laughton go for first round picks and sometimes a first plus. NHL GM's love toughness, leadership, and intangibles. Just because you disagree doesn't change facts and reality.

They are really insufferable. I had one today tell me that Ottawa wouldn't trade Pinto for 12 and Frost.

Oh, so facts that don't suit your false narrative conveniently don't count. Got it.
