My sad but true opinion on Liljegren is that he doesn;t carry enough value to get Frost, without a 2nd included, (which TOR doesn;t have anyways)
Liljegren as been a pro (up and down to the Leafs) for 8 seasons, he hasn;t cemented a top 4 spot, and has been a healthy scratch in the playoffs the last 2 years on a team that ANNUALLY goes out and acquires two or more starting dmen at the TDL and he falls off the depth chart, he hasnt emereged as a shut down dman or a pt producer and has never come close to playing a full season. Add to that, that hes an RFA with arbitration rights in line for a sizeable increase from his 2 yr bridge deal, so he'll be getting anywhere from 2.2-3.2mil (which is in line with similar players).
However saying all that, he is worth more to the Leafs than anyone else, as they lack youth on defense and really only have one top prospect (niemala) in the system on defense. I really think Benoit, being so limited offensively is a real good partner for Liljegren (and maybe Niemala in 25-26) and a solid 3rd pairing.
But Frost, even in the Tortorella haze of being benched/moved around lineup, on a really bad offensive club (PHI scored 1 goal less a game than TOR throughout season, which is probably close to almost 200 pts to spread throughout the lineup = so a Frost in PHI getting 47 pts is easily 57-60pts in TOR). So Frost with his first 2 seasons of .5ppg in that system/on that poor team, IMO is worth alot more than Liljegren.
