Trades:
Reliable depth defenseman to Ottawa for when they trade Chychrun. Could maybe hope for a 3rd but I think a 4th is fair value for both sides.
Moving a bit of cap. Referenced the Anthony Beauvillier trade from Vancouver to Chicago. Chicago traded a 5th for him. Similar age and cap hits. Fabbri got more goals than Beau got points last season between the 3 teams he was on, two of which were playoff teams.
Seems like Kaliyev might be out in LA. According to some esteemed Kings fans, his value is around a 3rd round pick. Added a 5th for good measure. There could be some untapped potential there and maybe playing with someone like Kane, he might be able to access some of it.
Not sure if the value of Karlsson. Vegas could use some cap space and having Eichel, Hertl, Karlsson and Roy down the middle is quite the luxury. I sent Veleno to be 4th line centre which would bump Roy up to 3rd line centre position. Veleno can also be signed cheap and has a bit of potential. He could fit in nicely there. Sent a 2nd in this year's draft for added value. Karlsson brings some decent offensive ability along with a strong two way game. He is really good in the face-off dot and he doesn't take alot of penalties, both things we struggled with a bit last season.
This is a pretty common trade, Elvis to Detroit for Husso. Since I added extra retention on top of what I normally do, I sent a couple picks to compensate.
Contracts:
Seider - Seider decides he wants a bridge deal, that way he can sign a bigger long term deal when he is 25 that will take him right through his prime. With the cap increase and his increased level of play, he would be poised for a bigger payday.
Raymond - Lucas signs a long term deal. With him being a year younger than Moritz, his deal will run out at age 29 and he can sign one more big contract as a UFA.
Fischer - Fischer gets a slight raise on a once year deal. He was a nice depth forward for us this year. Could possibly look at doing a two year deal as well.
Berggren/ Kaliyev - Signed both to matching 3 year deals. Similar to what Zadina for a few years ago, both could be real bargains if they improve over time. If not, they both could provide fair value as depth pieces. They both get a decent payday to set themselves up for a good longer term deal in the future.
Johansson - Albert hasn't played a game yet so I signed him a bit over his qualifying offer. Went with two years to try and get value out of him next season.
Kane - I gave Kane 3 years in hopes that it could keep the AAV down slightly. Although he did prove himself healthy and effective this season, doing a 3 year deal is still quite a risk. If he is content with staying with one team, I think it could work for both sides.
Perron - I value leadership and David brings a ton of that. He is also tough to play against but has slowed down significantly. I believe he doesn't want to move again and I think he would take a bit of a discount to stick around. I think this deal could be a bargain save I have him in more of a depth roll.
Roy - The big free agency acquisition. Getting a defensively sound top 4 RHD. Roy brings strong defensive play and physicality, both things we have been lacking. Being from Michigan I think he might take a slight discount to come here, I could see a team like Ottawa or Toronto offering him 6M. I think he would be a great partner for Edvinsson to learn from and when the time comes, be a good partner for the less defensively sound Walman.
Sidenotes:
I have Kasper and Mazur both on the team as rookie forwards. I think it would be worth while, even if they don't play every game, to get the experience and start to build chemistry in the team.
I would expect Berggren, Kasper, Kaliyev, Mazur, Fischer and Perron to all be interchangable on the roster and compete for playing time.
Playoffs would definitely be the goal with this team, unless injuries hit us hard. Even if the playoffs are missed, I would still expect this team to be battling for a spot right until the end.
I like it. Very interested in both Merzlikins and Kaliyev. Karlsson would also be a home run at 2C. Kane might be a little low even with the 3rd year, I’d love to be wrong though. If he needs another half mil, can always drop Perron

Lol I know you are more than willing to drop Perron. Could also sign Kaliyev and/or Berggren to cheaper one year deals.
Ottawa has no spot for a LHD, they already have Chychrun and Brannstrom as surplus
Well I see Ottawa fans, and not just random ones either, trading for Maatta alot. I'm expecting they expect Chychrun to be traded and he could be a depth option for them. If you really don't like it just assume it's "any team".
If SY trades for Merz he needs you be fired on the spot...he is awful
I would argue against that. Other than last season, where his best friend past away, he has actually been decent on a Columbus team that has been really bad defensively for years. I think, give him a better defense, which I provided here, and an opportunity and hopefully he takes advantage of it. Also if it doesn't work out, he can probably be traded easily enough, even if it's for a slight loss or with more retention. Or good buyout would be half of what it would be now. Say he was abysmal this season and they decided to buy him out, it would only cost 750K, 1.4M, 812K, 812K. That's not bad at all. I personally think it's worth the risk.

I haven't seen any Ottawa fans trade for Maatta - only Detroit fans. TVR is the consensus D to trade for if they go that route.
They don't need a LD for depth, especially one that costs 3 million. If they want depth they'll re-sign Brannstrom for 2 million, otherwise it's Sanderson/Chabot/Kleven once Chychrun and Brannstrom are gone.

I think the reason you see the Detroit povs is cause it was a frequent Ottawa post for a bit. I think the idea was to have a steady veteran to help on the back end. Either way this could be any team.
Real close for CBJ. For Elvis retained + Husso at full, I’d want that 7th upped to a 2nd.
But it sounds like Waddell wants to give Elvis another year, regardless.
Yeah that won't happen. If that's the case, do the retention to 1.9M and drop the picks. That was a cheaper option than buyout, if they wanted to go that route. If Waddell wants to keep him and give him another year then that changes alot. Depends what they want to do with him I guess. It seemed like it was a foregone conclusion that he was on the way out. Seemed like best case scenario for team and player.

It was, but with a new GM and now a new coach, I'd imagine there is at least motivation to try again. DW was directly asked about Elvis, and he said they need fix him first and foremost.
Unless CBJ see someone match or exceed any ask, there really isn't any harm in giving it another year. His buy-out is easy enough to eat.

I like Elvis, I hope it works out the best for him.

I haven't seen that, however I haven't been very active on hockey forums for months
I'd be interested if he was a natural RHD but here's how it looks on LD at the moment. Keep in mind that Tyler Kleven is NHL ready and will be a beast
