First, Marner won’t be moved before July 1. Canes cheap a$$ owner won’t want to pay $7.5M bonus owed on July 1 nor would Marner be able to negotiate an extension (prerequisite to Marner waiving).
Second, return is not what Leafs would want:
A/ burns declining but still on a big ticket
B/ KK is a cap dump
C/ Necas will suck up 60-70% of Marner’s cap hit, preventing spending on priority area - D corps

The Hurricanes owner isn't cheap he's strategic there's a difference. Burns has a $5.2m cap hit... not exactly a huge contract and gives you a viable partner for Rielly plus it's one year. So what exactly would a Marner to Carolina trade look like in your eyes?

I honestly don’t see a fit; no one on the roster I would take (other than the pieces you clearly wouldn’t trade).
Burns is deteriorating , which is not unreasonable given his age; dude has been a stud for years but Father Time catches up to all eventually.

If the Canes tried last summer, maybe a trade could have worked.

Pesce, Turbo, Blake and a 1st Rd pick would have been fair. 2 pending UFAs, "A" prospect and 1st Rd pick for 2 years of Marner.

There really isnt much of interest in that PKG

Like if TOR was to target guys from the Canes they would want guys like Morrow and Niskinin. Necas is nice and so is the 1st but after its just a no thanks

LMAO WHAT???

It’s for one more year, it’s not a negative contract. And Orlov is a goddamn beast, and needed to replace Skjei/Pesce. Canes laugh and tell Doug Armstrong to kick rocks here

A third pairing dman only playing 17 mins a night isn’t worth $8m/yr. Pretty telling when Hurricanes fans are trying to trade him for nothing

He only played 3rd pair because the canes already had Slavin and Skjei on the left side. He’s a top pairing defenseman on quite a few teams. Now Skjei is likely leaving so Orlov will move up to 2nd pair. He’s also the idol of the canes best prospect, so he isn’t going anywhere

Blues really don't have a reason to take Orlov. We aren't competing and have Krug and Leddy on the left side already. Better off sending him to another team

Blues are trying to move a pricey defender or two, not get another.

I don’t think that package entices Toronto at all

I’m going to be different than the other blues fans here. If that was offered I’m taking it in a heartbeat. At the worst we could get a good pick at the deadline at best he is a great top 4 addition
