Description

Just an idea. The Kings can't afford Kakko at $2.4M, but would love to take a flyer on him at $1.2M. Kings add a 2nd for the retained salary.

Kaliyev for Edstrom is a nice addition that I think addresses a need from both teams, but could be left out if undesirable.

Arvidsson signs a deal with $2.5M in salary and $2.5M in games played bonuses to keep his cap hit down this year.

Even if Turcotte and Kaliyev sign for $775k, that already makes them over Kakko’s total cap hit

Take out Kaliyev and Edstrom. Turcotte at $775k plus Kakko's 50% is $425k less than Kakko's $2.4M.

Probably value kakko’s experience and health over Turcotte

Drury has came out and said he’s not giving up on Kakko yet (just like last offseason with Laffy)

Just pay him what he is worth. He got his 2 mill and **** the bed, give him less this time or yeah, let the bust walk!

Kaliyev is next to worthless right now. Turcotte and Kakko (without retention) are roughly equivalent in value, and it's unclear how much $1.2M in cap retention costs after the significant cap increase. It's possible that it doesn't cost a 2nd round pick. Last summer, it most definitely would have.

I think this deal would be good for both teams.

Turcotte played with Kopitar and Kempe on the top line down the stretch and looked pretty good. He only got sent down because the Kings had players coming back from LTIR and no longer had the cap space to keep him up.

I agree that Kaliyev wouldn't play in the top six. He's a 3rd/4th liner at 5v5, but he's exceptional on the power play.

Actually yes. That's why I think the Rangers offered his exact QO now instead of 2 weeks from now when QOs are scheduled to go out.

Kakko has a safe floor as a 30-40 point 3rd liner with above average defensive impact

This is the same circumstance as Laffy last offseason when everyone thought he was gonna be traded at his lowest value

i think the value is sort of ok, but it makes no sense to retain for the rangers and i dont think that package is the one that it will make them thinking about doing it.
