NSH declines. Saros will cost more than 10OA. NSH would be looking to add a young high-end prospect/player on top of that pick for Saros. From what we know Trotz has no reason to move Saros right now (everything we do know that could lead to that is speculative at best). To get Saros NJD would have to add a piece like Casey or Mercer on top of 10OA.

NSH would likely throw another pick back at NJD, like a 2nd rounder, but 10OA isn't going to be enough to get Saros out of NSH's hands. If the recent report about CGY's asking price for Markstrom being a first and a high-end prospect is what sets the market for high-end goalies, then Saros should fetch more.

This suggests Jake Allen would be worth over $3M if he was a free agent.

Kings say use the rest of your cap space ($345,000) on the retention for Allen and you've got a deal.

Also the Kings are hunting for a tender as well and if all Saros costs is the 10th OA pick and a 4th then the Kings offer the 21st OA pick and Turcotte and a 3rd to NSH to beat that offer.

Several men picks and prospects isn’t getting Necas. A conversation can be held about moving Necas in a package for someone along the lines of Hischier or Mercer, although I doubt the Devils go down that route. I don’t think the Devils would be willing to move the pieces the Canes would have interest in for a Necas trade.

Saros is probably extended, but if not, any trade would be after draft so would have to be 2025 1st. Daws and Schmid are waiver exempt, so can play in AHL for a year, so Allen probably stays even if we add a goalie. Necas isn’t a fit here.

This is interesting. Not because Devils would consider any of these prices (to a NJD fan, they are both mildly offensive). But how Casey gets lumped with Mercer and Mercer gets lumped with Hischier. Covering a wide range here.

He was retained 50% on the way to NJD…so net is $1.7m (ish)

Rittich outplayed him and got $1M, I think the Kings can find better in the free agency without losing a pick.

So that means Ullmark and Merkulov would get the Bruins #10. Its fair value given the market. Devils fans just need to deal with it at this point. If there is limited quantity the demand goes up which causes the price to go up

In all likelihood, yes there is that possibility given how market looks and what teams have said they are willing to pay.

That is a fairly wide range, and from a NSH fan, I wouldn't consider asking for Hischier for Saros even 1 for 1. NSH would add more in that situation no matter how you slice it. The grouping feels more related to what each team (NSH and CAR respectively) is in need of at the moment. I won't speak to much from CAR's perspective because I don't know it very well, but we know they need an established 2C to play behind Aho and they don't want to wait for someone to develop.

NSH needs either a young player who can develop into a top 6 center to pair with Svechkov, or someone who can develop into a top pair RD to pair with Molendyk for NSH's future defensive core. NSH's center depth is terrible and NSH has at least one, and maybe two promising RD prospects who could fit that role. With that uncertainty and with the Burnette connection, the ask for either player makes sense if you take the bias out of both parties, it creates a situation where both teams receive the opportunity to fill both of those holes that they have in their timeline. The ask is high for both teams, but it is because both are giving up a lot, which obviously can create tension.
