If Brady was available, I think they'd atleast consider that return.

I assume Ottawa's new owners will want to compete and not start another rebuild. Marner is a superstar in his prime, Minten is projected to be a 3C, and Rielly replaces Chychrun. Plus a 1st to trade with and add to the team.

They get another offensive LD . And a soft small winger. Doesn’t help us

Definitely not. 0 chance. Marner would only be acquired to play with Brady

Something like this only happens if Tkachuk demands a trade and gives a list of contenders. And of the contenders only the Leafs have the assets and desire to pull something like this off. It'll be similar to the Tkachuk for Huberdeau, Weegar, prospect and 1st trade. In this case it's Marner, Rielly, Minten and a 1st.

Chychrun is added because Brady Tkachuk isn't the caliber of player that Matthew Tkachuk was at the time of the trade. So Ottawa has to add another piece.

No lol. Even smaller of a chance of that ever happening 😂😂. Ottawa isn’t moving Stutzle or Sanderson. Tkachuk would only be moved if they wanted to get younger and he wanted out

Even then. I’d take a top 10 pick ++ over this type of deal . It gives us cap space. This trade takes all our cap space away and doesn’t improve us where we actually need to improve

What contender can offer up a top 10 pick? Why would Tkachuk waive to another rebuilder? Doesn’t he have a NMC like Marner does? I think he's going to want to win now and be on a contender.

So in other words, TO loses by a huge margin

He doesn’t have a no trade clause . He could be traded to Utah

Leafs get a power forward who's 4 million cheaper than Marner and a defenceman who's a better PP QB than Rielly.

Kinda meaningless cause anyone think Marner and Reilly waives. Really?
So what if Tkachuk, wants a trade. Doesn't want to play for the Sens, he can beer league hockey with his dad, and the Sens have 8.5m in cap.

Better PP QB eh? I guess his 16 pp points last season is somehow superior to Reilly's 20, in less games. Chychrun has a better shot, and that's the only area he is better than Rielly. He's a far worse passer, skater, puck mover and he isn't better defensively, both are average.

Tkachuk is someone I would love on the team and in place of Marner but a 1 for 1 is all I would ever give up. Because despite what the morons on this site say, Marner is in fact better.

Why does everyone on CapFriendly think Tkachuk is more valuable than Marner? He has been a point per game player once and has exactly 0 playoff experience let alone playoff success, impact or points to his name.

Size, strength, truculence. Those are the qualities he has as a hockey player. The ability to put up points, hits, shots, PIMs, makes him a well rounded player. PPG players are needed on teams, and the Leafs have that in Matthews, Nylander and Tavares. What they need is a physical element, an element that Marner can't provide. Sometimes you have to sacrifice points to improve in other areas. Leafs trading Marner for Tkachuk achieves that.
