I mean they'll add someone from the UFA market for their top 6. But no, just like how even though San Jose is adding Smith and Celebrini they are still not going to be remotely good enough to get off the bottom yet

Kyle Davidson came out and said their goal is to play meaningful games at the end of the season. So my take was, it'll be a success if they make it out of the top 10 drafting. I don't think they're tanking, but achieving that goal is also separate.

Exactly. If not for the mountain of injuries this past season, CHI likely would've been marginally better. I do expect improvements next season, but again, they will be marginal in the standings. I fully expect them to still be in the bottom 10 and still well within the running for another possible lottery win, even if their odds of winning are much lower than the past two seasons. Around 10 more wins next season is about what I expect, which in this years standings would still have us in the bottom 5. It's not really about the standings, though. It's about SEEING tangible improvements from players and their overall team game. They need to look better as a team, more competitive, more consistent, better defensively, and keep games closer, even if they don't always translate to wins. I also want to see individual improvements. We need at least 2 or 3 young player/prospects to emerge and show they belong in the NHL. That said, surprises are more than welcome.

From your UFA signings, Kaner and Stephenson would lbe possible targets. The other 3 no thanks. Need a bigger, more rugged RD than Dumba and a more physical 4th liner than Blackwell. And yes, the tank is over.
