That's not enough for Necas and the Marner-Gibson deal is beyond terrible for the Leafs. Sure, he's probably going somewhere, but not for that little.

Let’s give a smidge of credit at the same time here:

Value wise: this is reasonable
Pieces given up by ANA being available: ✅
Addresses position of need for the Ducks: yes
Issues:
1. Gibby publicly said no to TOR less than 2 years ago and has a NTC
2. Marner’s contract demands will likely scare off Verbeek, especially since he doesn’t play the hard nose style Verbeek prefers

All this said, a top line of Gauthier - Leo - Marner would be all sorts of nasty

Whole lot of meh for Necas. Outside of Marner (assuming he would sign a reasonable extension which is unlikely) I don’t think the Leafs have the pieces the Canes would want. I like Liljegren but I wouldn’t give up Necas for him.
