Even without getting a single thing back it's going to take multiple firsts or high end prospects for a team to even think about taking on Nurse's contract. Certainly a second round pick and a 3/4th line player isn't going to get it done.

Yep that contract is basically immovable. Edm best route is to buy him out. Next year they would get an additional 10mil in cap space and 8.5mil the following year. After that it would be 3 years or something or 9.5mil cap hit which would sting but they need to continue going all in the next two years especially with new contracts for draisaitl, Bouchard, and McDavid on the horizon

That's basically my thought process yes. Edmonton's best time to win is before those guys need new contracts. I'd be absolutely all in next year and the year after and deal with the repercussions of the buyout later.
