I think he can be a good 3rd line player, and under normal circumstances I'd just ride out the last year of his deal. But the wings are going to have to be creative with the cap this offseason, and the 4 mil is more valuable than the player.

I went back and forth with CBJ fans on the retention on a previous post. 1 mil was where everyone seemed to be in agreeance that a deal could get done. Happy to have you all retain more though lol.

I think that's a more realistic perspective than what I encountered earlier.

I wouldn't expect much coming back to take him off our hands. He's a good player on a reasonable deal that should be an easy flip at the deadline. But a 2 round pick swap sounded about right to me.

I wouldn't call Fabbri a dump. If he was healthier, we would be happy with his contract, especially with this being the last year of it. It is his frequent injuries that make him hard to carry on the roster, not his cap hit. Personally, I don't see the sense in paying to dump him, just to turn around and Sign Duclair for more money and for 2 years longer. I wouldn't mind finding a trade partner for Fabbri, I would accept the return being nothing, but if we turn around and sign Duclair with the space instead of addressing our actual issues, I will be upset. Offense wasn't the problem last year.

Duclair is a much better player than Fabbri in my opinion. Fabbri isn't a guy I want playing top 6 minutes, while I have no issue with Duclair being the 3rd guy on a top line.

Also, while scoring wasn't the problem last year, it's very easy to see it being the problem next year. Gost and Kane are probably gone, and the shooting percentage from last year is likely to regress. They need more scoring in the lineup in addition to tightening up on D and in goal.
