This is what i think the Bruins could do this summer to upgrade the roster while not losing too many of their current players. For free agency, Lindholm comes in to boost the center depth. I'm not sure if he is the ideal pick for Boston, but I picked him because I see him being one of the more likely top centers to hit the market, as we already know Vancouver might prefer to pursue other options. He is good in the faceoff circle which is what the bruins need, along with some added scoring. Play him with Pasta in top 6 minutes and he could return to being a 35+ goal guy. I gave him a lower AAV on a longer contract, assuming he would like to have term where he signs.
With the list of players re signed in this scenario, it would be hard not to trade Ullmark, and he is sent to New Jersey, a team in desperate need for a goalie, for their first round pick in 2024. Boston also adds a good 5v5 goal scorer in Alex Holtz, he is not favored in New Jersey and could use a fresh start, and learn how to be better defensively under Boston's system. He is added to the trade with Lauko, Merkulov, and a 4th round pick going the other way. Unfortunately for Jersey, it is difficult to get high value in return for a struggling high draft pick, as we have seen in the past. Lauko could benefit from a fresh start and Merkulov will likely not make the bruins with their depth on the wing, they could both have a chance to blossom on the Devils.
Swaymans 6.5M AAV seems optimistic, it will likely be higher, but in this scenario we assume he takes a bit of a discount to allow more of Boston's players to stay. Dreidger is brought in to compete with Bussi and Dipietro for the backup spot.
I decided to sign Grzelyck because I have a bit of a soft spot for him, and personally I don't think he is as bad as everyone thinks he is. Given the Bruins already have a solid D core without him, I would only sign him for a lower price.
JD returns to keep his role as a middle 6, two way guy who can score now and then, and Heinen comes back to hopefully score another 15+ in a bottom 6 role. Boqvist was great this season and it will be interesting to see how he does if given a full season on the team.
Again, this is not meant to be exactly the ideal situation for the Bruins, but as a fan who would love to see the team have another chance at success with this group, I wouldn't be upset for this outcome.
There is enough cap space to make a move if needed during the season.
One year of Ullmark doesn't pull that much value. Swayman might, but if NJ is parting with that pick they want a true #1 goalie that can be with the team 5+ years
Lindholm is going to make significantly more than that
Lindholm was the primary Vancouver center that was able to not get dominated by the Edmonton duo. The reason the Vancouver players want him back is he’s good. He needs more chances at the dot and better surrounding talent, but I believe with Pasta to his right and Zacha or Marchand to his left that he could easily return to his previous form.
It’s a risk, but so is trading assets for every player.
My guess is he’s closer to 7M than 6M and likely goes over.
Debrusk and Lindholm get 1.5 more each. I love Heinen but think he is too expensive for the role he’d play. Think the 3rd LD is a Forbort type who can kill penalties and take some pressure off Hampus so Gryz not a fit.

yep, i just based it off his mid numbers with vancouver and ok numbers with calgary this year, i would say in between 6 and 7 is what he will get where he lands

I know gryz realistically is gone, I kept him here just for fun
