A lot of blocked shots and a little draft capital

Description
Leaving Doan in for the moment but, looking at opening night roster only, I'd start him and all waivers eligible players in the minors. Leaves open a spot make sure Merela or Goncalves don't get picked up or bring The Big Rig back. Few extra bucks there if Stammer or Roy needs a little bump.

Where did you read that Sergachev wasn't happy? Based on JBBs press conference saying they would look into using Serg on the right side it sounds like him and Hedman would be the first D pair.

Got a link to him saying this? I'd like to see that because he and Vasilevskiy are really good friends and nothing about his actions indicate that. Besides he still plays top pair minutes.

Where did JBB say they were planning on trying Sergachev on the right? I just re listened to his exit presser and didn't hear it. I listened to his "The Block Party" exit interview and don't remember hearing it? I know Cooper really doesn't like doing it.

Didn't say he said it, just that I read. Link: https://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/deal-or-no-deal-four-trade-scenarios-for-the-maple-leafs-mitch-marner/article_30d68612-12d5-11ef-9b00-bf30cb47a0f1.html

We all know that anything JBB, or reporters, say is worth a grain of salt...but, here you go.

Id really like someone to show me a time JBB made a definitive statement and didn't follow through on . For example when every said he was full of S*** about not buying Myers out when he acquired him . In hindsight he made the wrong decision, but he said he wasn't then doubled down by resigning him. Brisebois doesn't publicly say a lot about what he's doing , however when he says I'm doing or not doing x he has followed through on it.

Is Perbix better than Middleton?

According to statmuse.com - Jake Middleton had 161 blocked shots this year, best for 26th most in the league. Perbix had 114 which isn't bad by any stretch, best on the Lightning in fact. However, if you wanted someone to block more shots and be a little more physical...maybe mentor Lilleberg a little in this type of game...then Middleton is your guy.

This tweet from Chris Krenn. He says at the end of the day its up to Cooper but that it is a "distinct possibility"

This "story" if you can even call it that is a massive load of nothing. Toronto Star reporter pretty much said "Trust me bro".

Because they've got, almost, a $15mil buyout penalty from Parise and Suter this year. They're rebuilding. Perbix is younger, cheaper, fairly dependable. They've only got about $6mil in cap space left and this opens up another $1.3 in space for them. They could definitely use that to help upgrade a position. Not saying it's an amazing deal for them. Could be that TBL have to toss in a little something more. Also, Perbix is a MN native and it's a feel good story for the fans, maybe?

Well, in the end all this is just for fun anyway. Have you ever seen anyone nail a prediction? We'll see what transpires from now until July 1st when the NTC kicks in.

And Middleton is already comfortably within that

6M in space with very little left to do and several ELC's taking roster spots

How do you figure they're rebuilding? Trading away a few depth players at the deadline isn't rebuiding..

Do a quick ACGM and you'll see they're good on cap next year, they're actually in a better position than Tampa for cap next year.

That's great Preblix is from Minnesota, we'll take him for free I guess if he's homesick or something but Middleton isn't going anywhere unless it's an overpay. 100% the Wild could get a better offer at the deadline from a playoff team wanting to add some size and physicality to their defense.

Which means absolutely f***all to do with anything. Everyone and their mother tries and send Minnesota born players to the Wild. They think, "Oh... he's from there! They'll take them even though we don't want them!"

I'll let you into a well known kept secret. If you were to poll all American fanbases on which one could care less if a hometown player from their state played for them or not. Minnesota would rank 1st for not giving a sh*t.

Why?

Because we produce the most American born players over everyone else. In fact, we produce 3 TIMES more than the next highest state. That's how big the discrepancy is. To put this into perspective, Minnesotan's comprise roughly 24% of the current player base LEAGUE wide.

Throw a rock at every team in the league. Chances are you're going to hit a player from Minnesota.

So, no. We don't give a F' if a players from here or not.
