Appropriately titled
As you alluded to, there’s no way the Sabres could make this work the following season. They’re saving their Cap space for “the kids” and aren’t gonna be able to bring in a bunch of big c

Does this trade benefit TB today? No. So, does TB do it? Again No

I don’t know. The number 11 overall pick and a young winger who makes no money and is probably NHL ready. I’m sure they’d find a place for Johnson to fit too. Sounds exactly like what a cap strapped team might want. Is it good enough for Cirelli, maybe not but I think it’s close.

Jets do that deal pretty easily so probably an overpay.

Yeah I was thinking just Savoie, but if other teams get into a bidding war for him it could drive up the price.

From 1999-2017 7 players played less than 100 NHL games 4 more played less than 200 . No TB doesn't do 170lb defensemen. Cirelli has gotten Selke votes every year of his career has finished between 4-9. So, no this doesn't come close for Cirelli

Conveniently forgetting that you could pretty much draft his significantly cheaper replacement at number 11, I still also believe that Ryan Johnson is very much an NHL player. He’s already better than Jacob Bryson, who has played more than your 200 game mark. Johnson is still too young to decide what his future is going to be based on his size. He could gain a few pounds and fill out his frame, and become a second pairing defender. Add to that an NHL ready Rosen, who I think would definitely contribute in Tampa next season if the deal were made that package should get you A solid top six player, or just about any third line guy you want.

Savoie is a nice piece, but it's unlikely Winnipeg looks for a futures heavy deal. They'd be looking for a hockey trade for a top 4 RHD or 2C.

Savoie is an NHL ready center and Jokie is a mid pair RHD.

It would depend on if the Jets scouts think the same thing. That's a huge gamble to take with Savoie considering he's only 5'-9 (being generous) and hasn't proven he's an NHL center. It's actually far more likely he's a winger. Jokiharju is okay, but hasn't proven himself as a top 4D yet. He's more of a bottom pair guy.

So, it's just far most likely the Jets look for pieces that actually fit if they move their best trade chip as opposed to hoping some futures are able to make the step up.

Not this season. My point was it's far from a sure thing Cirelli contract is fine especially if the cap keeps increasing 5%. History shows not drafting someone as good as Anthony Cirelli is more likely than not there are ofcourse the Kopitar's. Those are more the exception than the rule. What about Julien Brisebois trade history makes you think he's pivoting right now when as he said on his exit interview he does every year on "The Block Party" if you went by guys played toi they were 14th oldest middle of the pack . 1 top 6 foward here all year was 30+ Stamkos 1 top 4 defenseman Hedman, Vasilevskiy isn't 30 yet 7 of the 8 2nd round playoff teams were older they're fine . 1 top 6 foward 30+ Stamkos 1 top 4 defenseman 30+ Hedman Vasilevskiy 29
He's really going to fill out 25-35pounds?

Johnson does not have to be 200 pounds to be a good player. He’s not that small, and bigger does not always mean better. He’s already quite good at blocking shots, I think he will get better at that. If you don’t like him, that’s on you.

I definitely don’t keep track of how tall or heavy any defensemen or hockey players are. You’d have to be autistic to care that much. There are smaller players who play bigger than they are, and there are very big players who play a very soft game. Johnson is a great skater, and he’s already really good at blocking shots like I said. He doesn’t have to hit everything that moves wearing the other team sweater, but if he adds a little physicality to his game it would be nice. He is the last piece of the O’Reilly trade, so if he turns out well it’ll make that deal a little easier to swallow.

That's all certainly true, and I like Johnson's game. Very smart player. Definitely not the most physical, but is willing to put his body on the line to block shots.

BUT....if an organization has a certain philosophy on how they build their team....none of that matters.

OK, but let’s face facts. He’s only included in this theoretical trade as an NHL ready defender who has already played several NHL games. Since he’s already got some NHL games under his belt, you assume his value is already higher than someone who hasn’t. Maybe Tampa would be more interested in Komorov, or Skrbak, I don’t know. Truthfully I don’t think adding a $6 million third line Center is a great idea. Part of me just wishes we knew what Kevyn Adams was going to do already so we can stop speculating about it.
