Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

Anaheim fans are convinced that Trevor Zegras is not on the market, no matter what the hopeful buzz is. So it would take a very serious offer to move him, including an impact player or prospect. Obviously, Lucas Raymond is out of the question, but none of those three players you've included in your offer here is that enticing. In my opinion, about the best fit with Detroit would be Nate Danielson and your 2024 first, or maybe Danielson, Marco Kasper and your 2025 second with something more from us. But since this is the first offer I can remember seeing from the Red Wings, there hasn't been much discussion about a Detroit trade for Z.

Both Red Wings and Ducks decline.

Zegras at 4C? 😆

You're not giving Chicago any incentive to make that trade.

That’s a lot of bleh and a future pick

Nothing Anaheim would want even if we were looking to trade Z, which we are not

Zegras is not worth three Top Tier Assets (your suggestion of a 1st, our top prospect and a high B to A level prospect).

Not sure what part of that package is supposed to benefit the hawks but they definitely decline

Doesn't matter what you think Zegras is worth.

Verbeek does think he's worth that and he's obviously fine keeping him.

Including Soderblom was probably over kill, but don't discount Fabbri. He could easily play top-six in your lineup and with retention could be flipped at the deadline for a good pick. Same to be said about Maatta, who is easily an improvement over Tinordi.

Isn't it called Armchair-GM? The whole point is to make moves. Zegras for a top tier asset, roster player, and A/B Prospect would be a good trade. Change around who if you'd like. I will say that if its this years pick its going to be two assets not three, top 15 pick in this draft has a much higher ceiling. For this years pick I would say Zegras for 15OA and Berggren.

I mean, Zegras is looking like he's going to be a winger anyways.

When everybody's in their prime Carlsson and McTavish are much better suited as centers than Zegras.

I'm familiar with both and I've heard all the arguments. Maata played for CHI years ago, and Fabbri played in our division for a long time, is inconsistent, and injury prone. CHI isn't paying DET to give them $7M in cap relief. As far as I'm concerned, you could take Soderblom and the 3rd out of the proposal entirely and CHI would still decline.

Anaheim fans a little delusional on what a return for Zegras would look like. He's a 60 point player that has more hype than substance because of a few Michigan goals. If he is on the market, and I think he may be, #15 this year, and a mid-level prospect such as Berggren would be a realistic return for him. He isn't getting some godfather return because he's a 2C.

Wrong on both accounts.

This is Leafs fans CFACGMing 101.

Badmouth said player claiming he's overrated.

Use personal opinions "proving" why the player isn't worth what his price is.

Provide no actual facts.

Make lowball trade offer to get said overrated player.

Place him in your top 6F or top 4D.

Same old same old. 🙄

Remember all the lowball offers Bertuzzi used to get on here?

Back when he had years left on his contract and Leafs fans would come on here claiming he was "up for grabs!"

Then they'd offer a **** Sandwich for him?

But always place him right beside Matthews at LW even though he "sucked and had little value."

Short memory, I guess. 😬

What are you talking about? Bertuzzi fetched a late 1st because that is what he was worth.

If anything, you are proving my argument. Irrational wings fans were saying Bertuzzi was worth more than he was.

Zegras is a nice player who would slot in nicely as the Wings 2C. But pretending he fetches more than a 1st plus a good prospect is nonsense. He’s a good, not great player.

What are you talking about?

I specifically talked about the time Bert had with years left on his contract.

Not when he was a rental.

You're only proving your lack of hockey knowledge of other teams especially the Anaheim Ducks.

You missed the entire point.

Anaheim doesn't have to trade Zegras.

Especially for your made up lowball value.

Stop talking from your arse.

You are correct that they don’t have to trade him. My point is that in a hypothetical world that they do, he isn’t fetching anything close to what Ducks fans say he is worth. He is a 60 point 2C in most years, and well below that last year with injuries. He is closer to Mittelstadt as a player than a bonafide 1C.
