I think an Ehlers / Chych swap would work for WPG. I don't know if Samberg is good enough to be a legit 2LD and Chych slots in nicely.

Only question is, does Ottawa need Ehlers?

No from Winnipeg on all 3.

The Jets aren't moving Barlow and a 1st for a 30YO with a bad contract.

Chychrun as an LHD that won't extend and isn't needed in Winnipeg has little value to the Jets. Ehlers would be moved to fill a hole.

The Jets don't have enough RHD that they can give one away for nothing.

Who do you think the jets should go for to help the blue line? Maybe a pulock/sanheim type player?

Pulock, he's RHD that the Jets need. Sanheim is LHD which doesn't help the Jets.

Bad contract? He makes 6m and is one of the best shutdown defenders in the league.

Any top 4D is a need for the Jets. Dillon is walking and Samberg isn't a 2LD. Heinola is a bust.

Critical thinking man

I've previously made the Chychrun/Ehlers trade and all Jets fans ripped me a new one over it lol.

I do, however, stand by this trade and believe it does in fact benefit both teams, should Chychrun extend with them.

You can try and twist stats but it doesn't change Weegar's age and it's definitely a bad contract for a 2nd pairing guy.

?

The metrics indicate he's a top pairing defender and has been for years. Just because a player doesn't wear a Jets jersey doesn't make them bad.

In fact, Weegar is the exact defenseman the Jets need. Right handed and can eat minutes against top comp beside Morrisey. Cap will have gone up significantly before his contract is a problem.

You just don't like looking at it that way because you don't want to give up B tier assets

I don't need to twist any stats. They are laid out perfectly to support my argument smile

Other than overpaying a 30 YO defenseman until he's 37 which you conveniently ignore.

Yeah, I'm sure a late first and a projected middle 6 forward + a cap dump is an overpayment for one of the leagues better defenders.

If he can remain good into his mid 30's who cares?

Other than he is regressing now, and will continue to do so. I know it's fun to hope other teams do stupid things, but it's just not realistic.

Classic Leaf fan that has no knowledge of players or trans outside of Toronto.

How is he regressing? He played top minutes on a bad team that had a D core of AHL players lol. He's been fine. He's exactly what the Jets need.

Not like this package would get him anyway, a bunch of meh wouldn't make them part with Wegar.
