Okay, let's all stop the nonsense. The New Jersey first alone is more than Gibson is worth. Anaheim isn't about to retain 50% on Gibson. So the issues are (1) is Gibson for Holtz and Marino fair
Probably not. Even with retention, I do not think Gibson returns a top-4 dman and top prospect. In reality, it’s probably one decent prospect, one goalie, and that perhaps depends on how much $$ is held back.

(2) what would New Jersey add for either one of them alone for Gibby?
Nothing. Marino for Gibson one for one is probably the closest to realistic. But I doubt NJD gives a good dman, when they are trying to add one. (Filling one hole, creating another).

Personally, the answer to (1) is No. The answer to (2) is I don't think that the Devils should give up on Holtz this early because he really could turn out to be the top-6 RW he was drafted to be, whereas Marino is more or less a known quantity by now. So my feeling is that Gibson without retention for Marino and the 2025 Winnipeg second that New Jersey owns is a fair exchange.
That is probably not far off, but would likely be some retention even with Marino alone. There is not a shortage of 0.888 goalies in this league. There is a finite amount of cap space.

By the way, we're not giving up Zegras, Carlsson or McTavish.
If Verbeek were asking for #10 pick…plus our best forward prospect…plus a top-4 dman…he is likely dangling a top asset. He is no dummy (I doubt he would even ask for any of those pieces)
