ignoring the first round picks, you're trading the RFA (or is UFA?) rights to Liljegren? I mean... i would consider this if it's RFA. Avs have to trade someone if Landeskog is back.

If it's UFA (unclear here, usually it is, so i'm guessing it is UFA), it's awful.

separately but...i dont think walker is doing 3.5 for that little term. Probably closer to 5 x 5 based on his play. If he signs 3.5, Avs would just extend him by 8 years.

Sabres pass for reasons that have nothing to do with value (which is great here) or division rival stuff. We've got the same situation NJ had with Bratt and Meier. Top dog Tage makes 7 mil. It will artificially keep the salary of future forward contracts down, which is good, but it also means that if you add a forward like Marner and pay him 12 mil, you are probably going to lose the locker room.

I don't have any desire to sign a winger to a 12m long term contract, certainly not one that folds in the playoffs. Cozens plus 11oa is a pipe dream, as is assuming that marner is gonna just sign an extension.

Avs probably have to consider that. It's not a bad offer but not great. A lot would depend on what they could sign Liljegren for. Don't see TOR trading Quillan after just signing him though. The guy may also be a steal as an undrafted player.
