Description
I doubt Calgary wants to move on from Andersson but Detroit over pays to get him. The 2025 1st will be in the 10-20 range, Buch and Buium are solid B level prospects and Maatta and Veleno fill out Calgary's roster. Kuzmenko doesn't seem like a fit in Calgary, maybe playing with Kane can turn him into a 35 goal guy.

The sharks trade helps both teams. The Sharks take on a bit of cap and get two pieces to fill out a terrible roster. They can move both guys at the deadline for more than the 4th they paid to acquire them.

I would have liked to improve our starting goalie but the free agent market is thin and Detroit doesn't have the space to go after a big time guy like Markstrom, Ullmark or Gibson.

I contemplated a Copp buyout this season but I think Detroit waits 1 more year to pull the trigger on that.

I can tell you that both Calgary and San Jose wouldn't be interested in those trades.

There is 1 assets going to CGY that might be of interest. The 1st. The rest we have log jams at those positions and aren't that interesting

I dont know what youre talking about, Kuzmenko has been a great fit with the Flames. There's nothing in the return that's an overpay for Andersson.

Rebuilding teams rarely sign aging UFAs to long term deals. Seems like Calgary is in need of a massive rebuild.

They are, but if Kuzmenko continues to produce the way he was to end the season he'll easily be worth at least a 1st at the trade deadline. If you look at comparables for Andersson he's worth a 1st and 2 2nds, which is pretty much what your deal is, but it's not an overpay.

Because Blackwood >>> Husso. And why tf would SJ be the one's giving up a pick for Fabbri? It's an awful trade for them

Crazy how people think the Sharks are dying to add salary to their cap. As if they can't just overpay some ACTUALLY good players in free agency to make their team better.

They could throw 7.5 mil at Stephenson, 6 mil at Domi, and 5.5 at Demelo and STILL be about 6 mil under the cap (and that's with Couture's 8 mil accounted for, who likely won't even play)

That's not an overpay for Andersson, in fact it's a real lowball offer for 2 Flames players and a bit low for just Andersson. A slight overpay for Andersson would be Detroit's 2024 1st + 2025 1st.

You're gonna have to add something more interesting to the 1st for Andersson, probably.

... That being said, I wouldn't be trading Buchelnikov at all. Teams aren't going to value him high, and we'll kick ourselves if we sell him for market value and he develops into a star.

Sharks get the short end of the stick there. Taking on a bunch of cap and adding the pick.
Andersson will require a top prospect in a return. We shouldn't trade Buchelnikov, he has a ton of skill. It's alot of quantity and not alot of quality. Calgary well value him very highly since they just moved 3 defensemen. Don't expect him to get moved before the end of this season.

Yeah but that wouldn't be as convenient as the Sharks paying their 1st overall or 14th overall for cap dumps from other teams :'(

Andersson is a top pairing RHD on most teams and you don't get a player like that quantity over quality.

Veleno is bottom 6 Center.

Maatta is a solid 3rd pair dman in his 30s.

Buium is more like a C level prospect and is about 4th among Detroit's LHD prospects. Now Buium would probably be 2nd among Calgary's LHD prospects and I can see Calgary being interested. But that doesn't move the needle at all in an Andersson trade.

Buchelnikov may have signed a 2 year extension to stay in the KHL. Since Putin's invasion of the Ukraine the 2 leagues haven't had much contact with each other.

Bottom line this doesn't get Calgary to even consider moving Andersson and that isn't really a bad thing since the price would be way more than Detroit would be willing to spend.

More than likely the Wings do make the playoffs next season without making a bunch of trades.

I don't see the SJS making this trade. That being said Fabbri easily makes the Sharks a better team. Fabbri's 18 goals would have been 2nd most on the Sharks and his 32 points would've been the 5th best and that's counting Hertl since he did have 34 points before he was traded. Fabbri played about 13 minutes a game and all 4 players with more points than him played about 19 minutes or more a game.

Once again I wouldn't make this trade if I was SJS. But Jesus Christ Fabbri is a lot better than most on this site give him credit for.
