Description
I haven't posted one of these in a long time so trades and stuff may be off
Tried to get guys who fit the Ruff system
Rosen trade is based on the fact the Sabres have a lot of players like him, and he can't really fit the play style of a bottom 6

Please leave any suggestions in the comments, as they really help me for future GM posts

Tampa quickly declines. Nothing about that trade interests them at all.

I question the Necas deal, and Tampa has no reason to make that trade. But the other move can work.

Vegas is going to have to get creative to be cap compliant next season. That includes if they are prepared to let Marchessault and Stephenson walk. They may be counting on teams to outbid one another for Roy, but who wants to pay an average third line Center $4 million except Vegas? Good luck.

Roy makes 3. Plays up and down the lineup. Plus we’d get better offers

You’ll have to hope for a bidding war for his services. Personally, I hope no one wants to help you. And frankly, there’s no reason they should. Everyone knows eventually if no one offers anything you like it will force your hand. Kind of like when you had to include Coghlan with Pacioretty to move that contract, and got basically nothing back. The trouble you have is that most teams in the league don’t exactly have a lot of money lying around, and most would need a cash in and cash out kind of deal. I think you may be disappointed with what you actually get back in return for Roy, and what else they will have to do to be cap compliant for next season.

If Necas signs a 5x5.25 he'll do so as a Cane, no reason to trade him. 1st is good but not really what the Canes need right now.

Could you provide feedback on what you think Perbix and Essyimont are worth? I really like them as fits in Buffalo, if Tampa thinks of rebuilding following losing Stamkos

I do think Necas fits with the Sabres cause he is a good enough defender as a forward with scoring potential. I will say I'm biased though, as when he was on the Czech team at the 2018 WJC I fell in love with his game, so I could be overlooking the faults

Detroit will opt to play for Roy! Start the bid at a 2nd and (name an average prospect at a position of need).

Vegas has six or seven roster spots to fill next season with about $18 million to do it, but that also does not count any RFA that needs to be resigned. That’s assuming they let every UFA walk. They are going to have to do a little salary cap mambo, and I don’t think anyone will be eager to help them.

That is fine, in my opinion this is the difference between a guy like Roy and a guy like Fabbri. Fabs is a good player, FO% is great, nearly 20 goals, compete.....but has the injury history (non-existent this year) and is deemed a "dump." Meanwhile his contact is fine as most players this off-season will be overpaid and for long term, whereas he is only sitting at 4M (or 2 if retention) for just next season, limiting the risk. If he gets hurt again, LTIR.

Roy on the other hand is a bargain at 3M, and is secure at that hit for more than one season. That value far exceeds what will be comparably found in FA. In THIS situation, I don't care if it helps Vegas because it ultimately benefits me (speaking as that team).

I just don’t expect teams to get into a bidding war over Vegas’s players. They may put up offers, but I don’t think they’ll be eager to beat one another and raise the price. Unless they see that guy as a must have, I just don’t see it.

I don’t disagree with that. I’m simply stating as a Detroit fan, if I was in this position I would offer a 2nd and (average prospect in position of need). This is strictly for what it would do for my team. If Vegas saw that as a win, great. If another team offers more…. Enjoy. I’m not trying to get into a compete for it due to your points of leverage.

For the composition of the Wings, I see Roy as a perfect fit. The value he provides is justified to the price tag. Other teams may agree, others disagree. No bidding war necessary. Wouldn’t shock me if it was the only one, wouldn’t shock me if someone over pays.

I’ve heard this every season on this site lol. Good players have a market. Teams don’t care about “helping Vegas”. If it’s a player they think is better for their team a bidding war starts. Patches hasn’t been anything since he left, as well as coghlan. Let’s talk about how Smith fetched a 3rd or Haula for Roy. What about Gusev for a 2nd and 3rd lol

Well, Vegas has also been burned on more than a couple deals. But who hasn’t? What I find impressive is that Brendan Brisson is the first 1st round prospect that they haven’t traded away. I don’t know who else among their prospect Pool is ready to be promoted. It doesn’t look like you have much left that is NHL ready right now.
