Why would the Canucks pay to dump one of our best forwards? If we move Garland (which is unlikely) he has positive value. But if we move a forward Mikheyev is the likely option

Mikheyev will be a super hard sell to anyone not on his 12 team NTL. Retention will help. Garland can just be moved. But to your point, I think he returns an asset.

Moving Garland would be a mistake though. He’s been one of our best players this season. Had a slow start but still had 47 points, is great defensively, and an elite play driver with the best xGF% on the team. He has more value to the team than he would in a trade. It doesn’t make sense to move him
