Shanahan and Keefe will be fired into the sun, Boucher too probably

Shanahan won’t be. He has MLSE in the palm of his hand & with Keith Pelley recently just starting as CEO he’s not gonna make a drastic change like that without going through a process. Shanahan and Treliving have at least a year as a freebie - Keefe is likely gone as the scapegoat because the roster sucks. It’s not a coaching issue but he’s the easy answer. Boucher probably stays, would be a good candidate for the new coach

I agree that significant changes will be made. Marner and / or Tavares will be on the block, perhaps Rielly too.

The biggest issue was signing Tavares when the team was no where ready to compete. Last summer would have been the 1st time a Leafs GM should have considered adding an allstar UFA.

Matthews is worth it but hasn't won anything yet. Marner is flashy but hasn't been able to show that he is worth more than $9 MIL. Nylander has skill but fell off the map after signing his $11.5 MIL x 8 Year contract. Rielly is an elite 2nd pairing dman but struggles as a number 1 dman.

So tying up $11 MIL on Tavares when he was never worth it, too much on Marner and Nylander as well as not having a top dman before investing in Tavares has doomed the team from the start. Lou is crazy with veteran's contracts and Dubas is crazy with young player's contract which made a horrible scenario for the Leafs.

Paying $6.5 for a good 2nd line center, $2 MIL less for Marner until he becomes Kucherov, $2.5 MIL less for Nylander until he becomes Pastarnak and invest that $9 MIL+ into a top dman is what was needed.

I don't hate any Leaf right now but there is no way the core 4 can win it all because of how much they are paid which leaves nothing to acquire the team depth to go 4 rounds in the playoffs.

Would honestly love that. Just not sure Pelley has done the amount of work needed for that yet but maybe he’s sped the process up and will changes.

The end of the day, rumours are just rumours and they fly even higher in Toronto. Some kinda action needs to happen
