Dvorak is overpaid by about half or 2.25 mil which isn't much more than 2 mil. Vladar on the other hand isn't overpaid, he's a good goalie as will be proven when he comes back after surgery next year. Selling low on Vladar while he's out would be poor asset management. Vladar was worth a 2nd before the injury which according to Markstrom Vladar has been playing with for more than a year.
Exactly Calgary has no need for Harris. If Calgary trades for a defenseman it'll be for a top 4 or a big mean hard hitting guy similar to Zadorov or Gudbranson both of whom have been missed for the physical presence they bring.
Owen Beck is worth a mid 2nd and that's it. With 50% rentention that makes it Sharky + Vladar for a late 1st + late 3rd a B/B+ prospect + 2 players who add no value for Calgary. In fact one of them is a 2.25 mil cap dump (negative value) and as Flames fans know very well Murray Edwards would frown on that.
Sharky is a bit of a wildcard. The smart thing for Conroy to do is wait until well into next season to see how he performs before deciding if the team should extend Sharky again and for how much. Unless of course he gets an offer so good it just can't be refused.
Delusional but cute. Vladar worth a 2nd. How adorable.

Let's agree to disagree here then.
Here's how I see it - every team knew that CGY was looking to move a goalie in the offseason. CGY had the best goalie in the AHL for 2 years running, and both Markstrom and Vladar were bad under Sutter. Conroy even said as much. At some point he even commented(fan960) on only being offered a 5th or a 6th for Vladar.
I agree that Vladar looked better than "I just suck at hockey right now" Markstrom in spurts. Vladar would have 2 great games followed by 2 stinkers. That lacking consistency is why I don't value Vladar as highly as you do, especially at a $2M caphit.
PS: I base about 70% of my player evaluation of a Flames player on watching a player play. 20% on analytics to show me things I'm missing, and 10% on talking to oposing fans that don't watch that player as consistently as I do.
I would defer to analytics and other fans a lot more when talking about players I don't watch as much (like in the eastern Conference).
The problem with goalies is consistency. Every year the stats, and the metrics will change. "GOALIES ARE VOODOO"
Teams will simply treat the position as a luxury.
There is no better example than Vegas giving away that year's incumbent Vezina winner for FREE to Chicago and they will probably have to give away the current SC winner, Adin Hil, away for FREE, if they wish to keep Marchy and Stephenson as well. And this isn't a new phenomenon. Nashville is another with Lankinen and Saros as Askarov will be in the lineup almost certainly next year. When you have goalies like Adin Hill and Kevin Lankinen available whom both are better by every metric stat than Vladar and only a few chairs to seat at goalie, the scarcity dynamic cant be ignored. The offseason also is tougher to move bad money than the Trade Deadline when you dont know the true makeup of your team and player/goalie retention is more to swallow instead of the cap hit being pro rated at the deadline.
Vladar going for anything more than the TDL and Jake Allen at retention would be shocking when you consider ALL THOSE circumstances.
