I wouldnt pay that price for Bedard much less Celebrini. You need an actual team or you become the sharks or hawks.

Not enough and too much. San Jose likely rather just take the franchise type player although they can get some really good players. Just so much for Montreal to give up as well.

Pretty easy to figure out. Montreal shouldn't be giving up that much and San Jose isn't interested in trading that pick.

I wouldn't do this as MTL. Celebrini will be great, but he is no Bedard/McDavid. Guhle is already a nice top 4 dman and looking at his capfriendly ratings is projected to be a first pairing D-man I don't watch habs game so i don't know how true that is but by judging by what I have seen what habs fans have said it seems accurate he'll at the very least be a top 4 dman. Dach injuries may kill his value but he has shown flashes of being a top 6 player. Also assuming that first is conditional depending on where that pick ends up but it is safe to assume that Calgary pick will be top 10. Just way to much to give up for someone who hasn't even played a NHL game

I understand why San Jose doesn't do that. Just draft the home grown player, but in terms of value just way to much. The 5th overall + most likely a top 10 pick along with Guhle and Dach for someone who never played a NHL game? Celebrini will be awesome but he no Crosby/McDavid/Bedard

Celebrini might not even be a franchise player, hell, he might not be better than Dach. It's absurd to give up all that for the shinny new toy.
Many scouts think Celebrini can be a very good 2 way center that scores 70-75 pts. Giving up a top pair young D with metrics against tough competition that put him in the 90 percentile, top6 center with upside much like Celebrini then a lottery pick and another pick that looks to be in the teens from the Flames.

That's a price that gets you McDavid if he wants to leave Edmonton not a maybe like Celebrini who isnt close to generational. The difference between 1st overall and 5th overall isnt worth one of those pieces outside the Flames pick, maybe.

Hence why Montreal shouldn't do it. It's too much to give up for an unproven player.
It's not enough for San Jose as I'm sure that would rather the franchise altering player. They have a few more bad years to add other good players like are attached here.

Yea, moving up 4 spots shouldn't cost a top 10 pick, and the 5th overall

Put it this way. If McDavid was available... You think any other team could offer a package like this package for McDavid?

Montreal and Arizona aren't exactly common around the league with their endless draft picks, cap space and legit young NHL talent. SJS and Hawks have picks not much NHL talent.

you are right, but a mcdavid type player would require more than that.

I guess Montreal could still do a trade like that for a star that's allready playing.

Wayyyy to much. Should be a yes from SJ even though it'd suck missing out on a guy with NorCal ties.

Lets even say Dach flames out: still Lindstrom/Catton + Parehk/Yak + a minimum as it seems now top 4 D in Guhle. Should be plently of quality and quantity to make that a yes for SJ.

Bedard would cost more, and as a sharks fan I’m not arguing it’s not a good value, but sharks need a franchise piece and while this is 4 good pieces, Celebrini would be sharks next Marleau type franchise piece.

just saw CGY in '25. Whatevs, they'll still get a quality player with that pick so sub with similar player from next draft.

Overall point stands should be too much.

Celebrini doesnt look like that saviour. He's a piece to the finish line ala Jonathan Toews . The 1st overall picks usually get overhyped leading up to the draft. Not Even Bedard will be able to save Chicago if the Hawks don't manage their assets well enough. I agree Bedard is miles better than Celebrini and he's proven thus far but his size is/will be an issue unlike say a Matthews or McDavid that can take over games on their own using their size to shield themselves from defenders. Bedard got mandhandled all year and why they had to put Foligno on his line. He will definitely win some scoring titles but the Hawks will need a ton more pieces if they want a Cup as he will be targeted in the playoffs.

Beating a dead horse here, value-wise its likely enough.

Content-wise I'm not convinced SJ would trade the pick without a name like Hutson, Reinbacher, Slaf, Suzuki or Caufield included.
