Andersson definitely had a down year defensively. He was a lot better under Sutter in that regard, at least until he got hit by a vehicle last year. Pretty much anyone paired with him this year had worse defensive numbers. That said, he has more to give defensively.

I hope the Flames will use him to get either a young upcoming C, or better quality future assets. I'd try to take on a bad contract to make those futures even better. For example trade him to WPG for Schmidt++, or DAL for Sutter++.
