Hypothetically yes, if the Blues don't re-sign him. But you're going to have to add significantly to Kakko if that's the route you're wanting to go. He's still young yes, but he's played 300 NHL games at this point. Seeing a large jump in production is possible but unlikely.

He's in an extremely similar position to where Puljujaarvi was when he was traded to Carolina. Puljujaarvi was traded for a guy in his D+3 or 4 who was still in Liiga and was very average. For comparison sake, that would be pretty similar to the Blues trading Simon Robertsson to the Rangers for Kaako

I get all situations aren't the same, but if you're looking at comparables to try and think tank a value for a guy like that, there aren't many better comparables.

So you think a 3rd liner and a 3rd round pick is worth a 1st liner? Ok then I guess Armstrong countering with Saad and a 3rd for Kreider is fair as well.
