Things have changed now that PIT is eliminated. That PIT pick is now either 14 or 13 (if they don't win the lottery) so SJ is more likely to trade up to get someone or stay pat, not trade down. Barron is solid but he doesn't have a high ceiling and they could potentially get a really solid RD at 2-3 or trade up and get one at 8-12

-They want to add talent through the draft. they have a LONG-term plan and they want to stick it. Stamkos is not a part of their plan. He might re-sign in TB and will not help MTL 3-4 years from now.

They traded Petry because he asked and they traded Hoffman because he didn’t bring much on the ice and as a teamate. Anderson and Dvorak are bringing things on the ice and are good teamates.
