Wings would rather keep the 1st and just get/give up what they can for either Fabbri or Holl.

The Jets can't afford to move one of their two RHD for pure futures. It would need to be for an upgrade RHD.

As an Anaheim fan, I wouldn't do any of those trades.

I wouldn't exchange #3C Isac Lundestrom and his under-$2.5 million-anticipated cap hit for #3C Jesperi Kotkaniemi and his $4.82 million cap hit.

I wouldn't acquire one season of Robby Fabbri and a guy who wouldn't even make the roster and whose $3.4 million cap hit would have to be buried in San Diego just to move from pick #35 to pick #15 - 17.

And I certainly wouldn't use the Edmonton first to acquire one season of Neal Pionk. We're not making the playoffs next season.

There is a good chance that one of Brandsegg-Nygård, Liam Greentree or Helenius is available when the Red Wings pick in the (14-19 range). Definitely not giving up that good of a prospect just to free up little bit of Cap space.

Fabbri can be bought out for pretty cheap or traded for positive value if we retain a little bit of money.

From an Anaheim standpoint I’d probably do it because I think they could get a low pick out of Fabbri at half retention and just buy Holl out.

Not bad to move up to the mid 1st. I can see an argument against, but in my mind, the only reason you don’t do that is if your ownership isn’t willing to spend the raw dollars.

Precisely. We Anaheim stalwarts are always conscious of the fact that the Ducks operate on a small-market, internal-cap basis. Yes, on a purely theoretical basis, the trade up would make sense for us (but not for the Red Wings).

laugh Robby Fabbri returns at least a 6th round pick, We buyout Holl for pennies on the dollar and year we currently surrender the 14th overall pick for a lousy 2nd. Talk about a pathetic worthless deal. Sure add John Gibson, Cam Fowler and Trevor Zegras and we accept.

Ive had the thought that they go after Ristolainen at 50% retained, then get another team to eat another million/year. Risto has his warts, but if you're paying him 1.75mil/year, i'm pretty okay with him playing 3RHD for us.

Get Ristolainen, make this trade with Pionk, extend Demelo then make a godfather offer with NYI to see if you can pry Dobson loose?

As nice as Dobson would be there's between zero and no chance the Islanders would trade him.

I'm not a Ristolainen fan at all, so you couldn't pay me to take him.

I'm not a huge fan at all, either but he legit has looked pretty darn good this year in Philly, and would be relegated to more of a supporting role in Winnipeg. If you can find another team to eat a mil/year, his cap it is $1.75m to the Jets for the next three seasons. If you have to move him, that's a tradeable number. If he just sucks, you can bury that number in the AHL or buy him out or whatever you want to do. I'm not saying sell the farm to get him, but I think I would offer the montreal 2nd, and maybe something else and see if Philly bites.

I'd be okay with it if he was cheap. Montreal's 2nd is way too much for me though. It's fairly easy and a lot cheaper than a high 2nd to puck up a so-so bottom pairing guy. Replacing Pionk with Ristolainen is a pretty huge step backwards.
