If they’re going to play the kid - must mean they’re not settled on our D yet & he could be an option? Otherwise, what’s the point of a 2 or 3 game cameo at end of season?

Maybe it's was a condition on Webber signing? I could see him asking Carolina to get a chance in the lineup and Carolina saying no, then Toronto swoops in and makes that promise?

He's also 6'7", and Keefe could be intrigued by it, like Knies last year and we know how that worked out

Maybe, but I just don’t get why Leafs would play him unless they thought he could be an option in playoffs (like Knies last year). I mean our D is still un-settled which is not ideal at this point; I’m not sure I know our top 6

Is it such a "big" signing.? Wishing him well, but 23 year old college players likely are just " a guy"
No way is NHL ready this season and really probably not ready in October.

Hes not really a huge signing, nice depth and hopefull pans out as a 3rd pair guy one day

But lets temper expectations and not overhype another one

6'7" is big though and his contract starts this season... So likely going to get a game in the NHL

Yea my guess you maybe see him 2025-2026

He has the potential to be a nice third pair penalty killing specialist but we need to see how he adapts to the AHL

But I could see him be like a Holden or Kempny

Size and strength be factors but there's more to that for NHL hockey

Again, you didn't get the joke, he's 6'7", that's the huge part...

Forty seven years ago when I was 23 years of age, I was "big" for the standards of the day. I was 6'3" and played RHD. No NHL team was knocking my door.
I kinda appreciate the joke, but again we have seen so many posts where any Leafs draftee or signing is going to be an NHLer, so I wasn't sure if you were talking size or NHL potential.

I think they signed him so he can play some Marlie games. That will be an eye opener for Webber. Playing against men even at the AHL level is different that 18 to 23 year old college kids,
Webber will gain knowledge, of what he has to do to be an AHLer and work on those things during the summer,
Any NHL games in 24/25 would be a bonus....if he's good enough.

It was NOT 100% because of size ,I saw a report where they said he is a shot blocking machine and skates very well!
Now add that to a 6 ft 7 over 200 lb frame and it seems like a solid call up possibly could turn into something .

A guy who has 1 career goal in 4 years of college is almost certainly not ready to become an NHL hockey player

In exchange for a contract? I could see the Leafs giving him a game so he can sign with them... BC they have a cushion in the playoffs
