even if the value is there, I don't see ST Louis doing this. neighbours is young enough where he can stick around for a rebuild and is at the least a proven piece compared to those picks

ok. but IMO the Blues would really value taking one of the top ranked dmen with that 4-6 pick.

Hilarious that Habs fans, who insist that they wouldn't give up pick 5 - 7 for Trevor Zegras (who had recorded over 100 points by his 130th game), would give up that pick PLUS the Winnipeg first for Jake Neighbours, who has 50 points at that same milestone.

Montreal's pick can only be 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9.

This gentleman opinion is not representing the fanbase.
That would be horrible for MTL

No need to waste assets to dump Dvo. He’s been good since his return. If he’s good enough next year, he will have a positive value at the TDL. If he can’t bounce back, he’ll just leave as a UFA.

I don't think the Blues are in a position to give up promising NHL stars for draft picks right now. Maybe if this were a couple years ago, but not now.

As a Blues fan, I really would hate to give up Neighbours, but then again, we can probably not say no to an offer like this.

Can't imagine the Habs offering this though.

I see Jake Neighbours as a much better, complete player than Zegras, that's why.
Good point about the pick. Ok, lets assume 5 or 6 then.

Yea, eh, kinda agree. He's not even a 4M dollar player. But ya I guess

On the basis of what, exactly? His -37 to date versus Zegras' -27 at the same point in his career?

not so much statistical. But JN is a goalscorer who goes into corners and comes out with the puck, then he plays in the middle of the ice. He's also a very physical competitor in puck battles.
TZ is a perimeter playmaker who avoids physicality. Yes he has great vision, great puck skills, but I don't like his compete as much as JN. And although its impossible to tell from my keyboard and TV, I'm just not a fan of the flashy stuff. His social media will hinder him I think. Just my thoughts.

Do you think that McDavid, MacKinnon, Kucherov and Panarin are good because they are flashy, or because they are not flashy?

Juraj Slafkovsky and Neighbours are at a similar point in the upward arc of their careers -- here are the three youngsters' first full seasons:
Neighbours: 77* games, 27 goals, 11 assists = 38 points, -16 (* 2 games remaining)
Slafkovsky: 79* games, 19 goals, 29 assists = 48 points, -19 (* 3 games remaining)
Zegras: 75 games, 23 goals, 38 assists = 61 points, -21

Slafkovsky turned 20 during his first full season and had 39 NHL games prior to it
Zegras turned 21 during his first full season and had 24 NHL games prior to it
Neighbors turned 22 during his first full season and had 52 NHL games prior to it

Now, I'm not about to predict, or even suggest, which one is going to have the greater, or longer, or more successful career. My point is the converse: that from what (little) we've seen so far, there is no fact-based reason to assert with any confidence that either Neighbours or Slafkovsky will ultimately turn out to be a more impactful player than Zegras.

Absolutely bonkers trade for MTL. Makes literally no sense to do. He's a solid player but his skill set is not what is needed at that high of a cost. They need a play driver with those picks if they are going to trade them.

Short answer, obviously the league elites are flashy.
Long answer, you need a lot of nonflashy guys to win with. OReilly, Bergeron, Danault, etc. I'm not putting these guys in the same group, but when you can't find Elite players you need as many of these as you can find. Bergeron was Elite, but not flashy. More impactful? yes I like JN, yes I think he can be more 'impactful' than Zegras.
