Canucks break the phone hanging up on you. Chabot is nice but not needed and cost more then Hronek probably will plus taking Forsberg. It doesn't make sense for Vancouver to take that deal. Either a deal around Batherson, Pinto or Tkachuk for Hronek or I don't see a trade between the 2 teams. Or this years 1st+. So in reality not really a deal between the two teams.

1. Instead of signing Brannstrom to an extension, we are more likely to trade Brannstrom or leave him unqualified.

2. We are likely to run it back with Korpisalo and Forsberg for 1 more season if we fix our defence.

3. The whole sequence of acquiring Hronek from Vancouver, then signing him long-term and then swapping him for Ekblad doesn't make any sense.

I guess , just why would Ottawa want Ekblad? The injury history alone.

That's not getting Mangiapane. Replace Branny the bust with a decent player/prospect the Flames would be interested in and they might consider. Don't forget retention costs extra.

Zero chance of Aaron Ekblad ever waiving for Ottawa, He doesn't want to play in Canada. greater chance of him coming to Detroit than any Canadian team. Since he grew up a Red Wings fan.
