This trade doesn't do anything for either side. The Islanders still need depth scoring and the Canadiens still need a #1 center. Galchenyuk is probably their best bet to be that guy, and it's not like the Islanders have a huge need for Galchenyuk either. If they were to play him at center, it either bumps Nelson down or Galchenyuk plays 3C, and if he's on the wing he's most likely behind Lee and potentially behind Ladd as well. Just doesn't make a lot of sense for either side. NYI probably wins this trade, but it seems like a bunch of moving pieces that kind of aren't necessary.
