Which is why we won’t trade him
No reason to “sell low” on him right now

Maybe he ends up in a package for someone,
but even that’s doubtful imo

The Shattenkirk signing made me throw up in my mouth

And you’re really reaching with A LOT of the rest of these moves- ESPECIALLY the Stevenson signing at only 3.3mil
He might end up making double that per season

Look, I defended Krebs for a long time. I said "maybe he will be a good two way player, with grit, and a bottom 6 center that does that could help us win". Moving mittelstadt gave him his chance to show what he can do, and he didn't do much with it. We still need a 3c that can take d zone starts and win draws, and if he can't do it, like now, I would definitely look at what we could get for him. I don't know if we could get a second for him, but if we could, I would take that second and go shopping for stuff to fix this roster.

If Necas was going to sign that, Canes just keep him. It’s not like that would be enough anyway. Canes have the cap space to resign Jarvis, Guentzel, and Necas, so why wouldn’t they? You are attempting to buy from a contender that currently has no incentive to trade Necas. Unless the Canes demands are met, Necas isn’t likely to be moved unless the Canes are packaging Necas for an upgrade.

And u think 15games is enough of a sample size to make ANY kind of reasonable assessment whatsoever???
Come on now….

Just bc Krebs can’t win faceoffs, it doesn’t mean he can’t be a useful player

3c is a trouble spot for our team. Thompson is awful defensively, and cozens doesn't play awesome in his own end either (still hopeful though). That means there isn't much to lean on from the top two lines. So if Krebs can't take the job and own it, how much time do you give him? I'm not blaming Krebs for 13 years of no playoffs, but next year can't be hoping that he can play an important role. Hope is not a plan.

Krebs doesn’t have to be Bergeron either though
Given some decent linemates (Girgs, & Okposo especially, both had pretty bad drop offs in play this season) it’s still reasonable to PROJECT- not “hope” - than Krebs takes a step forward in his development
How long was it before we started seeing what we wanted outta Mitts ?

And Krebs might not have it,
but he’s earned more of a shot than 15 games

I’m not opposed to bringing someone in,
but I’m not the GM

Krebs is most likely gonna get a legit shot to prove himself

Need a backend Right handed defenseman that is not scared of a corner like Bryson.
Noted on Stevenson - didn't realize he is projected 5.5-6mil.

Canes have a lot of work to do this summer.
Teräväinen, Guentzel, Jarvis, Drury, Noosen, Martinook (wears an A) and Necas.
The Necas move is a numbers move, they going to keep everyone?

The order of resigning goes: Guentzel, Necas, Turbo, Jarvis (non arb RFA so we can take our time with him), Drury, Noesen, Martinook. At least if I were the FO. Guentzel might also not want to resign here, he is a UFA after all, so if he ends up walking then there's really no reason to let Necas walk.

All that said, take Greenway and the second out of the trade and I think it's probably a fair trade. Whether the Canes go for it is another question as other Canes fans have pointed out.

Shattenkirk is old & has been well past his prime for a while now. Plus, he probably shouldn’t play above the 3rd pair
He’s also much more effective in the offensive zone than his own zone- he’s never actually been all that great at “defense”
He’s been overrated his whole career

If Granat stays, which I assume he will, Krebs is broken. He is out of ELC, showed no progress last season and a half, even with extended roster bump to 3C. If other team wants this reclamation project, ship him for 3rd and be done.

Sabres need to refresh bottom half of the roster anyways

Wow, this is just flat out wrong
15games or so does NOT COUNT as an “extended roster bump to 3C”

Sorry, but that’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read on here

Whether u like it or not, Adams is likely to give Krebs a REAL SHOT at the 3C role

How come 15 games with Skinner and Greenway/Peterka with little to nothing production are not enough to prove, Sabres need to move on from Krebs.

A 15game sample size isn’t enough to prove ANYTHING
With that type of thinking, we’d have moved on from Mitts WAY BEFORE he developed into the the asset that got us
Byram

Not every player develops by age 22
And we sure didn’t put him in a good spot to develop,
asking him to take on tough assignments with Okposo’s old a$$ on one wing & the great Girgensons on the other
And that was pretty much all of last year & most of this year

AGAIN….
whether u like it or not, Adams is probably gonna give him a real shot at 3C next year

But he`s got no room to grow on this roster. He is not better than Cozens and Thompson in any aspect of the hockey. He could be better than 4C centering boat anchors in Okposo and Girgensons.
He showed no improvement after being move from them. There are Savoie and Kulich waiting for roster spot, and you dont want them to put behind Krebs or with Girgensons/Okposo 25/26 equivalent.

You will eventually trade Jokiharju and/or Rosen for bottom 6 forward, hopefully better than Krebs.

This type of thinking simply does not make sense

U can’t put someone in a defensive center role, for 1 & 3/4 seasons, playing with “boat anchors” (your words) and then
just expect him to flip the switch right away when thrust into
a completely different role- with brand new linemates to get used to & find a connection with- even if they are more talented.
Chemistry matters. And it’s hard to be confident in a new role right away that is brand new to him in the NHL

He doesn’t need to overtake Tage or Cozens either
Mittelstadt was able to grow & develop into a good player with them anchored in the top 2 center spots
Krebs just turned 23 dude, he’s still VERY young

And here’s the thing you’re gonna have to realize
Even if u did convince me- u haven’t btw- that just doesn’t matter at all
I’m not the one making the decisions, Adams is
And it seems as if Adams is gonna give him a shot at 3C

He’s shown nothing but patience with our young talent
So shipping him out for a 3rd (essentially nothing) would be a very surprising move
