Double whiff on those trades. Anaheim rejects both.

Pitt frankly doesn't have the pieces to pull Zegras, and we've no interest in adding any LHD.

Just an abysmal deal for Anaheim

We traded you Rakell because we didn’t want to give him that contract we want nothing to do with any more LHD and Poulin does nothing for us either

A future 1st isn’t even close

Verbeek laughs you off the phone guy

I disagree here with the Anaheim fans. Zegras is definitely attainable by trade for Pittsburgh. His best seasons are only 60 PTS seasons while still being -21 or worse. He has 9 PTS this year in 26 GP. Definitely attainable.

That being said though Rakell has similar career bests except his plus minus is actually good. 1 for 1 in this would be better. You overpaid for Zegras if anything. But of course since it's capfriendly forums you have to tremendously overpay for there to be no one complaining. Which you might've known and did this trade to appease those people yet there's still a complainer above me saying you still didn't give enough assets.

Not close on either trade.

Anaheim has absolutely no interest in any of those four players. The Leason trade is ignorant and the Zegras trade is downright idiotic. Anaheim doesn't need a LhD like Pierre-Olivier Joseph and a moment's research would have revealed that. As to the Zegras trade, Rakell is over the hill and fast becoming a cap dump, Poulin is a B prospect well below Gaucher, Mysak, Nesterenko and Pastujov (among others) in potential, and Pickering is a redundant LhD like Joseph. The only element of value here is the over-the-horizon first and for that, we'd give you Ryan Strome.

He has 9 PTS this year in 26 GP.

Using this statistic as if it defines the worth of a 23-year-old with two 60-point-plus seasons under his belt is so breathtakingly clueless as to beggar further description.

Easily the worst evaluation you will make in April and it's only the sixth day of the month!

Rakell for Zegras one for one? Buddy, you're going to have to give me your dealers number, because You're smoking the good stuff.

Two sixty+ point seasons, on his ELC on a horrendous team as a playmaker, vs a player signed to a boat anchor contract who is in decline. The only correct statement you made was that they have similar career highs, but where Rackell is past his prime, Zegras hasn't hit his yet.

And we would know, we used to have Rackell. Claiming the above offer is an overpay demonstrates a staggering lack of awareness about both Zegras, Rackell, and each teams farm systems.

you realize that 2026 picks probably top 5 if not top 3.
There is no way the penguins would ever trade that pick... especially for a 60 point guy on a struggling year.
You are talking about a year with a 39 year old Malkin and 38 year old Crosby. How many years do you think they have in the tank before this team is picking top 5?
Hell I doubt they even move next years pick after seeing what almost happened with this years as at point they looked like they would be finishing just out the top 5. They simply don't have the option of moving it knowing it won't cost them a top 10 pick anymore. Let alone 2 years from now. Forget it.
